Motherhood.... An endless JOURNEY!

Motherhood is a journey that captures mother's selfless and life long commitment the female gender make to their children. It's believed that motherhood start immediately it is confirmed that a woman is pregnant, I mean the nine months is never a joke, the early morning sickness, the fatigue, the vomiting, the swollen legs, the stretch marks, the body heaviness, etc, too numerous to mention. That's why I said it starts from day one of the confirmation of the pregnancy.

You might want to ask, how am I so sure of such analogy? I am so sure, because I've been there! Yes! So, I am going to use myself as a case study here.

You know, as a married woman, for a just wedded wife of two months to discover she was pregnant, it was such a big deal, I mean, the joy, that fills such home will be undescribable. Such of it my husband and I had.

Then, my body's adjustment to that reality is overwhelmed. All the morning sicknesses paved way and I have to contend with everything the symptoms decides to bring my way each day. After the nine months discomfort, my prince arrived in the noon of a sunny Saturday, in the month of June, the process of the labour is story for another day because I couldn't give birth myself, and after my husband consent, the doctor carried out ceaserian section on me to save both my child and I.

The joy of MOTHERHOOD!

It's such an unspeakable joy, it is beyond one's expression. Having another little creature which resembles you or your partner, or one of your relatives is indeed a blessing. The feeling of another human being that just starts life with full hope and aspiration is mystery. I look at my son every day and appreciate God for making me a mother. No higher calling and greater honour than that, I am very sure my body might no longer be a perfect magazine picture again, but being a mother is a greater joy and blessing.

Every tingles, every blabbing, all waking smiles will make mother and parent marvel, and appreciate God for the blessing of being a mother.

The Challenges and Sacrifices of MOTHERHOOD

Although, motherhood is a rewarding and fulfilling experience, it still comes with some difficult task. Most of them are unavoidable. Yes! You can't do without some of them especially as a new mum. For instance, sleep deprivation. Oh my God! The little dictator can decides to wake up in the middle of the night, when you're just enjoying your sleep and might decides not to sleep again till morning, and will likely expects you, as the mother in most cases to be playing with him/her.

Sometimes, the baby might decides to cry and the mother will usually not know what is wrong, it's usually such an haculeen task. All these usually occur in the first forty days of the baby after birth. Such a sacrifice.

Not only that, the social isolation motherhood cost is overburdened. One might have to stay away from social gathering for some months, for the baby humidity to be strong, and for the mother to rest well, to avoid unnecessary fatigue and stress.

What of balancing work with baby? How working mothers cope is strategic. One will have to wake up earlier than everyone and might still be the last to sleep. Motherhood will teach one the art of multitasking.

Please if you see any mother tomorrow, give her a hug, flower, speak some words of encouragement or consoling to her. She really deserve it.

And the unconditional love that encapsule MOTHERHOOD! Mother's love for their child/children is an unconditional one. Imagine the emotional stress, social isolation, financial pressure, physical changes, body change, mother's health at stake, sleep deprivation etc mother faces, they will still love their children. Most mothers will only eat after their children might have been satisfied, in fact, sometimes leftover. Their children will be number one in their to do list. Motherhood is such a force that forgives without limit, sacrifice without hesitation, comfort without constraint, it mends hurt and pains, gives without expectations of return...

Motherhood; There lies in you a strength to nurture to life, the endurance through every stages of life, you inspire and ignite confidence. And I never know how strong you are, until I saw you in labour pain, so you can be this generous until I saw you buying all for the little creature you are carrying! What a selfless human being you are, I mean you dropped your career to bring a new life alive, you are the multitasker and play every role well, as a teacher, nurse, pastor, lawyer and all. I LOVE YOU MOTHERS, I am rooting for you! Thanks for the sacrifices!
