Kuruvadweep, also known as Kuruva Island, is a river delta located in the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. It is situated in the middle of the Kabini River, and is known for its lush green forests, diverse flora and fauna, and serene natural beauty. As the name indicates, it is a cluster of small islands formed by the delta in the river Kabini and is spread across about 950 acres of uninhabited area. These are true natural islands with no other activities other than enjoying the nature to its best.
Kuruvadweep is a popular tourist destination and is known for its trekking trails, bamboo rafting, and bird watching opportunities. The island is a protected area and is maintained by the Kerala Forest Department. Visitors are required to obtain permits from the forest department before entering the island.
Only 500 visitors are allowed to enter the island everyday. We got the tickets as we reached the ticket counter 30 minutes before their opening time. After taking the tickets we reached the island by bamboo rafting which is the only way to reach the island.
I clicked some picture of the Kabini river which was very clean, surrounded by lush green trees all around.
Finally we reached the shore of the Kuruva Island.
The Island is covered with lush green full grown trees of world's rarest species. Here people come for bird watching and to inhale good quality air.
After walking for about half an hour I saw a small piece of empty land which looked awesome as it was surrounded by lush green trees and the forest department people told that elephants come here during the night time.
Now, the forest department officers told us that there is dangerous zone ahead, be alert and scream aloud if anything happens. We were very scared and mentally prepared.
After crossing the dangerous zone there was backwaters of Kabini rivers where after speaking to the forest department officers we were allowed. I stepped into the water and the water was very clean.
As it was 4:30 pm the officers told us to return back and while returning back the weather was very sunny and clear.
Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed.
