"Monas" or Monumen Nasional. This is a very great place for having vacation because the government has provided the tourist with some great facilities such as Sport field (including Basketball and Soccer), History Room which is showing the national history of Indonesia (where all the visitors can learn Indonesian struggle for independence), Artificial forest for picnic area, Reflex garden for foot massage, public transportation (car) to go around Monas (National Monument), etc.Welcome back to my post, @queen-silvia. I am super excited to share my experience visiting one of the best tourism spot in Jakarta, Indonesia. This is one of the most iconic symbol for either Jakarta, or Indonesia. It's called "National Monument" or in Indonesian language, people called it
Alright let's start the story with the location of National Monument (Monas) in the map. National Monument (Monas) is located in the central Jakarta. Well, I guess all of you have been familiar with Jakarta since it's the Capital city of Indonesia. Here is the location in world map :
National Monument is located at the center of the park and surrounded by very large garden where we can enjoy some great facilities that I have mentioned previously, I have taken some pictures of them and will share and explained them one by one. Here is the map which is showing what kind of facilities that we can enjoy in National Monument :
I walked around the National Monument and found another visitor who feed pigeons. I was interested and took some photographs of him with the birds. Well, In the garden, we can see many bird cage where they live. All the birds here are free, They can fly whenever and wherever they want. They are free to breed and do whatever they like.
We can find many statues of the Indonesian hero who helps this country to gain their independence in the past. The Japanese (Kanji) word is written below the statue of R.A Kartini, The Indonesian heroine. Below picture is the statue of Husni Thamrin who lived in 1894 - 1941. Here is the translation of the inscription under the statue :
All members of the government should make decisions based on the will of the people (democracy). This should be the basis for governing. The government who don't care about people will never make the rules according the will of people.
The meaning of the kanji word is :
"Presented as a Symbol of Friendship Between Indonesia and Japan"
Well, actually the R.A Kartini statue is the gift from Japan to Indonesia so that's the reason why Kanji is written there.
Here is the public transportation provided in the National Monument area to carry the visitors from the entrance gate to the main building of National Monument. it is a car that has several carriages which is combined (like a train)
I tried this public transportation and here is how it feels like (inside the car) :
National Monument was surrounded by very large artificial forest where the tourist can enjoy the fresh air and perhaps have some picnic with the family. Some people set the hammock to sleep in the forest. Relax and Chill 😅
Here is the Sports field in the National Monument. There are 1 Basketball court and 4 Football field. Many young people come to this place mostly at weekend and sometimes in the evening to play both football and Basketball. Well, the field is not too large because it's designed for children.
Here is the best picture of National Monument I took from the garden. There are many huge buildings since National Monument is located at Central Jakarta, The metropolitan city. At the left and right side, we can see the artificial forest which contributes to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) and increase the Oxygen (O2). I love Central Jakarta because of its great buildings, It's always remind me to one of my dream (to visit New York one day).
Some bikes are provided for rental for the tourist who want to ride a bicycle.
After being satisfied walking around all the parks, I have decided to go inside the History Room of National Monument. The ticket cost is 45,000 IDR ($3) which is including the Jakcard. A card that we can use to enjoy all the facilities in National Monument park. The picture below is showing the entrance gate of National Monument. Some parents took their children with them so that they can teach some lesson about the History of Indonesia.
Most of the visitors are people who come from some other cities like Medan, Flores, Surabaya, Semarang, etc. They spent their holiday in Jakarta for several weeks and National Monument is one of their destination for vacation in Jakarta.
Here is the picture of the History room. We can see the whole story of Indonesia since the Portuguese came to Indonesia, and then followed by colonialism era and ends with the story when Soekarno, The first president of Indonesia declared the Independence of Indonesia to the world. There are lots of picture I have taken but I think I will just share some pictures which I think describing the most important era.
Below picture is showing the moment when Portuguese come to Indonesia by Ship :
This is the colonialism era :
And this is the moment when Soekarno declared the Independence of Indonesia :
Alright guys, so What I want to say is :
This is the past. We have to learn from it to make ourself better in the future. The point is having good relationship with all nations in the world is very important. I do believe no one like war, instead, we all want to live peacfully despite of the differences which maybe exist among us. I think the differences will make the world wonderful isn't?
Some tourists from other countries are also interested to know more about the History of Indonesia
There is also a Tourist Information center who will assist and help every tourist who want to know about the history of Indonesia.
I want to pin my post on pinmapple and here is the code I got from Pinmapple

Hmm, yeah I think so XD,
Currently I am trying to get scholarship to continue my master degree overseas, Once it's granted, I think I can make some cool post related to travel outside of Indonesia,
Wish me luck my friend 😊
wow which country do u want to go study masters degree
My plan is Aussie, but every country is still possible, let's see :)
Aussie expensive o.o you will work part time there?
Well, the scholarship provided by Indonesian government is covering all the cost. including living expenses, etc (it's a full scholarship). Even if I have married, I can bring my family and the government will still pay for our expenses as well. :)
It needs hard work though, but I'll try my best
wow O.O indonesian govt so good lol. I hope you get that scholarship then

A very interesting walk. Almost the same picture of pigeon feeding can be taken in our parks, but some other details seemed surprising and unfamiliar. For example the hammock for relaxing in the park
