Perfect timing. After talking about it for years, we're finally going to Japan to see the snow in February! I have never heard of Kyushu so I suppose I better brush up on my knowledge a little beforehand.
Photos are great and just how I want Japan to look but it doesn't seem that cold there from your pictures and the skies are blue. Is that because it's so far South?

It was quite mild even in December, and yes that's probably coz it's quite south. If you go up north to Hokkaido, which I want to go, I hear it can get very cold.
Which cities are you going in February? And have you got you wallet ready for Mrs Nathen's spending spree. You gotta treat the lady in Japan!!
Spending spree? Oh Lordy! We're flying in to Osaka as the only purpose of the trip is to visit Shirakawa-go to see the beautiful village in the snow. There'll be plenty of spending beforehand on winter clothes and multiple warm coats for the wife so she doesn't appear in the same clothes twice in her selfies!
Being a city boy at heart, I'd have preferred a five-star in Tokyo but you can't win 'em
