Winter Hiking Saariselkä Deu/Eng

in Worldmappin2 days ago (edited)

Hallo liebe Community,

Einfach wunderbar.

Meine Frau kam dann 2 Stunden später vom Skifahren.

Al

Hello dear community,
after I had taken the lift back down to the valley, I made a beeline for the Northern Lights Village. It wasn't a huge hike but it was all the more impressive. The winter landscape was wonderful, the air was cold and pure and the sounds around me were muffled by the snow.

Every now and then I met a walker but mostly I was alone in the wide open spaces. I then slowly entered the town of Saariselkä, where the lamp posts were already decorated for Christmas. There was more going on in the town and I passed the restaurants, hotels and souvenir shops. The local supermarket had also already got ready and put up some nice Christmas decorations. When I arrived at our holiday village after about 3 kilometers, the sun was already slowly setting again. I trudged to our hut and after I had fought my way out of the various layers of clothing, I treated myself to a hot glögi pimped up with vodka to warm up. I enjoyed this in the comfort of our cabin, looking out the window and at the LED fireplace. Simply wonderful.

My wife came back from skiing 2 hours later. She was even able to ski under the floodlights and had a lot of fun. However, she was completely frozen, which meant that we needed hot mulled wine again. We then rested a bit until dinner, as our next adventure was scheduled for the evening: a snowmobile tour until midnight to hunt for the Northern Lights. But more about that in my next post.

Best wishes and see you soon, Your
Al
