Argentina - The most beautiful place I've ever been: Laguna de Los Tres in the province of Santa Cruz. / El lugar mas hermoso en el que estuve: Laguna de Los Tres en la provincia de Santa Cruz. 😃❤️

I thought it would be a bit difficult to have to define which was the most beautiful place I have been because in the more than two years that I have been traveling through Argentina thanks to Hive I have visited a lot of them: plains, mountains, waterfalls, lakes, sea, rivers and any number of beautiful places. But I swear when I finally got to this place I felt in my heart that this was the best of all the ones I visited. A beautiful trip for everything it represented: the constancy of savings to get there, the planning and above all the physical effort after 6 hours of trekking, rewarded with an incredible and imposing landscape: Laguna de Los Tres with the great Cerro Fitz Roy in all its splendor ❤️.

Pensé que sería un poco difícil tener que definir cual fue el lugar más hermoso en el que he estado porque en los más de dos años que llevo viajando por Argentina gracias a Hive visité un montón de ellos: llanuras, montañas, cataratas, lagos, mar, ríos y cualquier cantidad de lugares hermosos. Pero juro que cuando finalmente llegué a este lugar sentí en mi corazón que este era el mejor de todos los que visité. Un viaje hermoso por todo lo que reprensentó: la constancia de ahorro para llegar hasta allá, la planificación y sobre todo el esfuerzo físico después de 6 horas de trekking, premiados con un paisaje increíble e imponente: la Laguna de Los Tres con el gran Cerro Fitz Roy en todo su esplendor ❤️.

The town of El Chaltén was one of the must-sees on my travel list and when I finally found a way to raise the money to go, I didn't hesitate. This place in the province of Santa Cruz, in southern Argentina, is called the national capital of trekking thanks to all the beautiful trails that start from it. One of the most important of them was the Path to Cerro Fitz Roy, a 10 km stretch that culminates in the beautiful Laguna de Los Tres after approximately 6 hours of trekking through the mountains 😃.

El pueblo de El Chaltén era uno de los imperdibles en mi lista de viajes y cuando finalmente encontré el modo de reunir el dinero para ir, no lo dudé. Este lugar en la provincia de Santa Cruz, al sur de Argentina, es llamado la capital nacional del trekking gracias a todos los senderos hermosos que parten desde él. Uno de los más importantes de ellos era la Senda al Cerro Fitz Roy, un tramo de 10 km que culmina en la hermosa Laguna de Los Tres tras aproximadamente 6 horas de trekking entre las montañas 😃.

Throughout this tour we made two important stops to rest a little and eat something: first at the Cerro Fitz Roy viewpoint, where we didn't see much due to the amount of clouds there were, and then at Poincenot camp, which was at km 8 of the road. When we were ready we continued walking a bit more: although there were only 2km left to complete our objective, everyone had told us that the last stretch was the worst because it was so steep. I tried not to get scared but I still continued with my easy pace so as not to get too tired 😅.

Durante todo este recorrido hicimos dos paradas importantes para descansar un poquito y comer algo: primero en el mirador del Cerro Fitz Roy, en donde no vimos mucho por la cantidad de nubes que había, y después en el campamento Poincenot, que era en el km 8 del camino. Cuando estuvimos listos seguimos caminando un poco más: si bien solo faltaban 2 km para completar nuestro objetivo, todo el mundo nos había dicho que el último tramo era el peor porque era muy empinado. Yo traté de no asustarme pero igual seguía con mi paso tranquilo para no cansarme demasiado 😅.

When we finally reached the last kilometer, we found informative signs that confirmed everything we had been told: that this section required a good physical condition, that it was very demanding, that the difference in altitude from there to the end was 400m and that the time Estimated climb was one hour. We had already been walking for more than four hours, how terrible could it be? We wish each other luck and start the climb 😅.

Cuando finalmente llegamos al último kilómetro, nos encontramos con cartelería informativa que confirmaba todo lo que nos habían dicho: que este tramo requería una condición física buena, que era muy exigente, que el desnivel desde allí hasta el final era de 400m y que el tiempo estimado de subida era de una hora. Ya habíamos estado caminando por más de cuatro horas, ¿qué tan terrible podía ser? Nos deseamos suerte y empezamos la subida 😅.

The first part was quite easy because there was a kind of staircase formed by trees and stones: this path is very famous, surely it must be traveled all the time and that is why it is so well prepared, but that does not mean that this alleviates having to use all your energy for the climb. The funny thing that happened here is that after walking for about twenty minutes we came across another sign that told us again that we still had one hour to go to the end. We were almost out of breath and it turned out that time was not advancing 😅.

La primer parte fue bastante fácil porque había como una escalera formada por los árboles y piedras: este sendero es muy famoso, seguramente debe ser transitado todo el tiempo y por eso está tan bien preparado, pero eso no quiere decir que eso alivie tener que usar toda tu energía para la subida. Lo gracioso que pasó acá es que después de caminar unos veinte minutos nos encontramos con otro cartel que nos volvía a decir que faltaba una hora para llegar al final. Ya casi estábamos sin aire y resultaba que el tiempo no estaba avanzando 😅.

Much of this last km was a path of small stones. This mountain is made of granite, which had to be stepped on carefully because it was very easy to slip on the uphill. At times there were also large stones where you had to help yourself with your hands to climb up and not fall. There were a lot of people who were prepared with trekking poles and everything, but we were alone with our soul. At one point I was quite behind, my cousin and the boy who came with us were quite ahead and I was left behind. The climb was already leaving me breathless, so I would take a few steps and stop, or I would walk very slowly: I wasn't interested in getting there fast, I just wanted to get there 😅.

Gran parte de este último km era de un camino de pequeñitas piedras. Esta montaña es de granito, el cual había que pisar con cuidado porque era muy fácil resbalarse en la cuesta arriba. Por momentos también habían grandes piedras en las que era necesario ayudarse con las manos para subir y no caerse. Había mucha gente que fue preparada con bastones de trekking y todo, pero nosotros estábamos solos con nuestra alma. En un momento yo me atrasé bastante, mi prima y el chico que venía con nosotros se adelantaron bastante y yo me quedé atrás. La subida ya me estaba dejando sin aire, entonces hacía unos pasos y paraba, o iba caminando muy lento: no me interesaba llegar rápido, yo solo quería llegar 😅.

When I thought we were reaching the end of the route because we began to see the peak of the hill, I felt quite relieved because my legs were already numb. That day it was 10°C, so while you were walking you were hot but after stopping for a few minutes the wind and the cold would freeze you again. When we finished doing the slope that looked the most terrible because it was steep and we finally hoped to see the lagoon, it turns out that the path continued as a "U", so we still had one more descent and ascent to go. Here I really felt cheated hahaha, but it was the last effort, we almost had it ❣️.

Cuando creía que estábamos llegando al final del recorrido porque empezamos a ver el pico del cerro, sentí bastante alivio porque ya tenía las piernas entumecidas. Ese día hacían 10°C, entonces mientras caminabas tenías calor pero después de parar unos minutos el viento y el frío te congelaban de nuevo. Cuando terminamos de hacer la cuesta que se veía más terrible de empinada y esperábamos al fin ver la laguna, resulta que el camino continuaba como una "U", por lo que aún nos faltaba una bajada y una subida más. Acá si que me sentí de verdad estafada jajaja, pero era el último esfuerzo, ya casi lo teníamos ❣️.

And almost with the last breath, the last effort, the last energy, we finally arrived. And it was a very emotional moment, so much so that it really made me cry. The most beautiful landscape I could witness in my life. Although I had seen it in photos, and now I see it again in the photos that I took myself, I assure you that seeing this in real life leaves a lump in the throat because it is simply incredible ❤️.

Y casi con el último aliento, el último esfuerzo, la última energía, finalmente llegamos. Y fue un momento muy emocionante, tanto que me hizo llorar realmente. El paisaje más hermoso que pude presenciar en mi vida. Si bien lo había visto en fotos, y ahora lo vuelvo a ver en las fotos que yo misma tomé, les aseguro que ver esto en la vida real de deja un nudo en la garganta porque es simplemente increíble ❤️.

This lagoon is called "of the three" because from it you can see the base of the three most important needle peaks in this mountain range: Cerro Fitz Roy, Saint Exupery and Poincenot. The silhouette of these peaks is the typical one that gives recognition to El Chaltén, with its traditional postcard of gray mountains and snow. Being in front of this landscape was something wonderful: the colors could not be believed, everything was perfectly combined and most importantly, the clouds had finally cleared up so that we could see everything well ❤️.

Esta laguna se llama "de los tres" porque desde ella se puede ver la base de los tres de los picos de aguja más importantes en este cordón montañoso: Cerro Fitz Roy, Saint Exupery y Poincenot. La silueta de estos picos es la típica que le da el reconocimiento a El Chaltén, con su tradicional postal de montañas grises y nieve. Estar enfrente a este paisaje fue algo maravilloso: los colores no se podían creer, todo estaba perfectamente combinado y lo más importante, finalmente las nubes se habían despajado para que podamos ver bien todo ❤️.

I know that the photos do not do justice to the majesty and immensity of this place, but if you want to get a little idea of the size of this landscape, just look down at the edge of the lagoon and you will notice how small the people look. Incredible ❤️.

Yo sé que las fotos no le hacen justicia a la majestuosidad e inmensidad de este lugar, pero si quieres tener una pequeña noción del tamaño es este paisaje, solo mira abajo en el borde de la laguna y notarás lo pequeñas que se ven las personas. Increíble ❤️.

During our stay there we were able to see a small mountain fox. He seemed quite comfortable among the tourists, even getting too close. It is seen that he was used to people, but just in case no one fed him. I think everyone understood well the warning given at the camp about not feeding wild animals 😅.

Durante nuestra estadía ahí pudimos ver un pequeño zorro de montaña. Él se veía bastante cómodo entre los turistas, incluso se acercaba demasiado. Se ve que estaba acostumbrado a las personas, pero por las dudas nadie lo alimentaba. Creo que todos entendieron bien la advertencia dada en el campamento sobre no alimentar animales salvajes 😅.

Although our legs were very tired, of course we went down until we were close to the water. I swear that color was incredible: whenever I saw photos of this place I thought that they could be photos edited to make them look more beautiful, but the truth is that this place does not need editing of any kind 😍.

Si bien nuestras piernas estaban muy cansadas, por supuesto bajamos hasta estar cerca del agua. Les juro que ese color era increíble: siempre que veía fotos de este lugar pensaba en que podrían ser fotos editadas para que se vean más hermosas, pero la verdad fue que este lugar no necesita edición de ningún tipo 😍.

If you walk just a few meters to the side of Laguna de Los Tres, you can find another small lagoon just as beautiful called Laguna Sucia (dirty lagoon). I honestly don't know why they gave him this ugly name, I think he doesn't deserve it. Here there is only a small viewpoint on the edge of the mountain, you cannot go down to the shore from here so you just have to settle for seeing it from afar 😅.

Si caminas tan solo unos metros al costado de la Laguna de Los Tres, te podes encontrar con otra pequeña laguna igual de hermosa llamada Laguna Sucia. Honesamente no sé por qué le pusieron este nombre tan feo, yo creo que no se lo merece. Aquí solo hay un pequeño mirador al filo de la montaña, no se puede bajar a la orilla desde aquí así que solo hay que conformarse con verla desde lejos 😅.

I believe that this place has well deserved its title of being the most beautiful in which I have been. The entire south of Argentina is beautiful, it never ceases to amaze me and I like it that way: when a landscape is great and manages to make me cry, I feel that everything is worth it. Generally, I'm satisfied with visiting a place once, but I would definitely return to this place, despite all the physical effort it requires (and especially economical because it was quite an expensive trip), I would love to visit it again and stay there for a while I can't believe what I'm seeing 😅.

Yo creo que este lugar tiene bien merecido su título de ser el más hermoso en el que estuve. Todo el sur de Argentina es precioso, no deja de sorprenderme y me gusta que así sea: cuando un paisaje es genial y logra hacerme llorar siento que todo vale la pena. Generalmente con visitar un lugar una vez me conformo, pero a este lugar volvería definitivamente, a pesar de todo el esfuerzo físico que requiere (y sobre todo económico porque fue un viaje bastante caro), me encantaría visitarlo otra vez y quedarme ahí un buen rato sin poder creer lo que estoy viendo 😅.

We started this trekking at 10 AM, we arrived at the lagoon almost at 4 PM, we stayed for a while and then we began the descent. Unfortunately, my cousin hurt her knee, perhaps in some movement she was injured and then she could no longer flex her knee, so this forced us to go down very slowly. We also enjoyed the walk back because it was getting dark on the way and everything was tinted with the golden sun. We were back in town by almost 10 PM, but since it was summer it was still pretty light. That was the great thing about choosing the high season to go: we were able to use the whole day to be outside and we achieved our goal of completing the Cerro Fitz Roy trail ❤️.

Este trekking lo empezamos a las 10 AM, llegamos a la laguna casi a las 4 PM, estuvimos un rato y luego empezamos el descenso. Lamentablemente mi prima se lastimó la rodilla, quizás en algún movimiento se lesionó y después ya no podía flexionarla así que esto nos obligó a bajar muy despacio. Igualmente disfrutamos la caminata de regreso porque fue atardeciendo en el camino y todo se teñia de lo dorado del sol. Estuvimos de regreso en el pueblo casi a las 10 PM, pero como era verano aún estaba bastante claro. Eso fue lo genial de haber elegido la temporada alta para ir: pudimos usar el día completo para estar afuera y logramos nuestro objetivo de completar la Senda del Cerro Fitz Roy ❤️.
