Hello everyone!
Who doesn't know the George Everest a British surveyor and geographer measured the height of Mount Everest home the Mount Everest is named. Situated at a distance of 7 km from Mussoorie Gandhi chowk, the house was built in 1832 and he lived there for almost 12 years. Now it has been converted into a museum of cartography. Cartography basically means the study and practice of making maps which involve lots of other things. I visited the view museum with one of my friend and it is scheduled and peaceful. This house is also known as peak a state and now both of them including the George ever speak are famous among tourist for camping and for tracking. You can also visit to George Everest peak it's just 30 minutes away from here. I have also shared a blog about it.
The day was cloudy and lots of tourist around the park near museum. This it at an elevation of 2000 m its a best place to see the sunset and the sunrise. Now let's get into the museum.
You have to take tickets in order to enter the museum and they cost you around rs 100 per person. Is museum is literally situated at the top of cleve and it does over look the beautiful Mussoorie Valley. You around this museum are spectacular and this is the gate from where we enter the museum.
It took around 23 crore 52 lakh to make this museum and it was inaugurated by tourism minister Satpal Maharaj on 27th of September. The picture above history of India regarding cartography is written.
Moving forward, I saw a door welcoming me to a new room where you can see great trigonometry survey all over the wall. I have used trigonometry to you measure the side of triangle and George Everest along with others made a great scientific project, and the great degre Matrix survey to locate the Indian subcontinent on map.
These pictures above show the global navigation satellite system which is made up of different components such as satellite ground controller and ground segments. Assistant is used to get the position navigation on the regional basis. All the information regarding GNSS was written
over the wall in this room.
Was this huge poster on the wall which emphasize on Pak estate museum helps to educate tourist about the museum things inside the museum and about sir George Everest. He has really done and incredible work in his life and here we are now remembering him with his work and appreciating it.
The materials and the equipments used by surge Everest to calculate the height of the average are still in the museum and they are protected. Includes different type of survey change and number of telescopes. All of this is now protected and now it's part of museum.
In the picture above differentials of the world map are shown during different time period. It shows how with advancement in technology's and equipments we are able to predict the average shape using trigonometry and able to find the most accurate shape of the world map.
I was shocked it to see this virtual book here you can turn the pages by keeping your hands away at a distance of 1 feet and then you can turn the pages of the book. I didn't read anything much about it but it was fun just to change the page of the book. This book contain all the information regarding the museum including all the instruments that are present in it.
This board contain the picture of very famous explorers Krishan Singh Rawat Pandit Nan Singh and Radhanath Sikdar. Pandit Narayan Singh was a very famous and a successful explorer during the 1860s and he mapped Tibet and Lhasa.
Also the museum has very realistic statues of these explorers. If I was roaming around the museum and suddenly I saw these statues. At first at they are real human beings and suddenly I know this they are not moving at all I will terrified and then upon would you saying from close I realised they are statue and finally I was able to breathe.
This picture shows Kinthup, person who explore the unknown areas of the Tibet around 1881. He was a lepcha man and he belongs to Sikkim. He was a true legend who surveyed Tibet and prepared a detailed map of that region.
Well if you are someone who loves entry history and also an adventure seeker then this place is a must visit for you. I had a great experience visiting this museum and the Beauty of the peaks all around the museum maid the day even more perfect for me. I hope you enjoyed the blog and all these pictures are taken by me with my phone Samsung galaxy s21 ultra.

This is the first time I heard about a museum dedicated to cartography. The building is wonderful, that external colonnade is really fantastic. Everything inside looks beautiful too. Thanks for telling us about it.
You're welcome @stefano.massari and thank a lot for the lovely comment
