Trip to Basdaku Beach in Moalboal with my Friend's Family

For Cebuanos, Moalboal is one of the best places to go to a beach during the weekend. Families love to go to the beach to celebrate different occasions. You can hire a bus or better have your own vehicle. My friend invited me to join them since it was her mother's birthday.

They live in Cebu City and my hometown is Naga, now the City of Naga. I just waited for my friend's message while I was in front of the church so that I could see them and jumped into their pickup truck.

A family picture: On the table was lechon baboy, or roasted pig, Goldilocks cake, bottles of beer and sodas, poso, or hanging rice, and a few home-prepared Menudo, Kilawin, and Pork Adobo that everyone could share.

LOL. This photo made me hungry because I miss eating Filipino food at the beach.

Bas means sand. Daku means big. Basdaku means Big Sand. It is because there's a lot of sand in this beach area. There's another place called Basdiot or Small Sand because you don't see much sand in that area.

So, groups of people like families and friends prefer to enjoy their beach weekend getaway here. People can enjoy beach volleyball and pitching their tents here. There are several accommodations here but other people love to stay overnight with their camping tents.

Of course, it is safe for the kids to play in the sand but parents and adults should look after their kids, always.

Few cottages you see where families/groups rent cottages for day use.

A boat that is possible to rent and the owner can bring you to a good snorkeling place.

Even though you just came here with your motorbike, just stay here for a day enjoying the heat, the beach, and the sea. There are several vendors here selling you some local ice creams and snacks. There is also a local eateries at the back of the rental cottages I showed you earlier.

You can do sandcastles or bury yourself under the sand with the help of the kids.

There are some expensive resorts if you walk further. But in this area, in front of the tent, there is a diving spot with beautiful corals. When I was here, we never had an underwater camera.

A nipa hut rental by the beach.

You can also rent a kayak.

If you're not swimming, non-swimmers just enjoy sitting on the sand.

You can see how popular it is with the locals.

This is another cottage rental owned by a resort.

I enjoyed a photo walk by the beach.

If you're looking for a family beach weekend getaway, Basdaku Beach in Moalboal is the place to be.

DSC_0227.JPG

I consider myself lucky to live in Cebu as we have several beautiful beaches on the island that are accessible to the locals.

But yeah, I miss the Philippines. I miss my weekend getaway to the beach even though I was just traveling solo.

DSC_0229.JPG

Not just the accessibility but I also missed how affordable it is to get here.

If you don't have your transportation, from Cebu City just go to the South Bus Terminal and look for a Ceres Bus liner that goes to Moalboal.

Just be spontaneous, you can book a place to stay in advance through a hotel booking app or just go there and find a place. It's not that bad.

I hope you enjoyed my blog and a trip to the beach in the Philippines.

Ciao!
