Do you miss the beach, sound of the ocean and the breeze of waves that covers your skin? I know you are bored and stressed out their staying at home due to this pandemic. am I right?
Well, to ease some of your boredom. I will share to you my quick getaway last July 4, 2021 (sunday) in an Island that make all Bisaya folks laughed when hearing it's name π€£.
a Quick Getaway in CAOHAGAN ISLAND, Cebu Philippines π π #LakwatsaniIntoy Diary 004
This island is located in Lapu-lapu, Cebu. Aside from Olango, this island is also one of the favorites for island hopping destination. The island is about four hectares and have an estimated population of 270 residents.
As I learned, Caohagan Island is a private island owned by a Japanese man. The Japanese owner and its wife is so generous to let the locals stay in the island after they bought it. In fact they also created programs for the community to sustain their life in the Island. Like :Quilting- a source of income, Solid Waste Management, Health Care and Population Management, and Educational Scholarship for the children. Click here for more information. This couple are really an angel to the folks of Caohagan island π.
This stunning beach welcomes you when you visit the island. The crystal clear and the wide sand bar thats peeking out during low tide will invite you to swim and explore the bay of Caohagan Island.
β’ SNORKELING
The Island not only offers the beauty of the beach it has; it will also give you an underwater experience. You get to see up close the beautiful underwater creatures using your snorkel mask.
Don't forget to bring with you an underwater camera to document your unforgettable experience here. I'm blessed I have a travel mate like Cristopher David who has a Go Pro that we used in documenting our underwater adventure π.
β’ KAYAKING
A fun activity that you will also enjoy together with your friends. You can explore the island by paddling along the beautiful shoreline of the island. Renting the kayak will cost you 200 pesos.
β’ SWIMMING AND SUNBATHING
Having a fine white sand and a crystal clear water, Im sure you will enjoy the swimming and sunbathing activity. You will love to laydown and close your eyes, listen the sound of the waves and feel the fine sand that embraced your body. The island is a place to relax and take a deep breath. Releasing the stress and forgetting the problems even in a short period of time.
Look how Chris is floating at the top of the water. Look how he is relaxed and ease doing this, even if he doesn't know how to swim π. Doing this is like you become part of the water. Going with the flow of water feels like flying in the clouds and just being free. Do you feel the same?
HOW TO REACH CAOHAGAN ISLAND
From Cebu City, it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the island. 1 hour from Cebu City to Lapu-Lapu, Cebu and 30 minutes from the port to the Island. You can take Bus or Taxi going to Lapu- Lapu then rent a boat that will guide you to the island.
We used the Car of Madam CCRB (one of our subcontractor from Manila who also like to explore Cebu) to reach Cordova Port in Lapu-Lapu. From there, we rented a boat that will bring us to the island. (4,500 Pesos is the rental of the boat)
One of us is my colleague , Joseph (Suveyor in project site) who invited us in this Island. He is resident in the nearby island and cousin of the owner of the boat we rented. He became our tour guide for the rest of the day.
This treasure in Caohagan Island is worth to visit. Hoping this will be preserved and protected from the abused of mankind. Having this beautiful nature is truly a gift of God.
WHY THE ISLAND'S NAME FUNNY TO BISAYAN FOLKS? π€£ π€£
Actually, at first I didn't mind its name. I really don't know the meaning about it π€£, Beacause I'm Waraynon. But when I saw my Bisayan colleagues smiled and laughed, I got a bit curious why why they laughed? so I ask them, then in a minute I laughed hahaha π€£.
To tell you, its a Perverted word that you don't wish to say in public area where Bisayan folks are living π€£.
(To all the bisaya out there I know what are you thinking sorry, but that's the name of the island. I didn't mean to put some dirty thoughts in your mind, ok? ππ).
This picture inspired me to explore more and roam the world to see the beautiful nature out there π.Ending my #LakwatsaniIntoy Diary 004 with this Stunning photo I captured in the island. Beautiful picture right?
