Greetings to all travel lovers, as an introduction to the Worldmappin community I propose a small cultural excursion through Madrid (Spain). Although before I start I want to thank the whole worldmappin community in spanish for all the support they have given me, and especially @ninaeatshere for her great patience.
A few days ago, a friend of mine suggested me to do something nice for her and for me. This publication is born from that invitation, and now it is my turn to invite my friend to accompany me on this walk. She knows who she is, and I just hope she enjoys it as I have enjoyed it. It is obvious that all those travel lovers who want to join us can do so, it will be a pleasure to have them by our side.
Saludos a todos los amantes de los viajes. Como presentación en la comunidad de viajes Worldmappin propongo una pequeña excursión cultural por Madrid (España). Aunque antes de comenzar quiero agradecer a toda la comunidad de worldmappin - español por todo el apoyo que me ha dado, y especialmente a @ninaeatshere por su gran paciencia.
Hace unos días, una amiga me propuso que hiciera algo bonito por ella y por mí. Esta publicación nace de esa invitación, y ahora me corresponde el turno de invitar a mi amiga a que me acompañe por este paseo. Ella sabe quien es, y sólo espero que lo disfrute como lo he disfrutado yo. Es obvio que todos aquellos amantes de los viajes que nos quieran acompañar pueden a hacerlo, será todo un placer tenerles a nuestro lado.

Madrid
Before starting with our little tour I think it is necessary to give a series of notes about this great city.
Located approximately in the geographical center of the Iberian Peninsula (southern Europe), Madrid is the capital of Spain. It has a population of more than three million inhabitants , of which, if we pay attention to the statistics, the vast majority are Madrileñas and Madrileños. This point is important, because if you dislike the Madrileños it is better not to visit Madrid, there are many, perhaps too many even if they do not bother you.
Another important point is the weather, although foreign visitors insist on arriving in July and August, months in which temperatures can reach 40 ° C, you know continental climate: cold in winter and very hot in summer, I personally advise visits in autumn and spring. Not only the weather is less frightening, but Madrid, if the sky accompanies and it does not rain, is seen with a very special light that envelops everything. A white light, almost transparent, that makes the city look very beautiful, with a range of shimmering colors that hides the rest of the year somewhere far away from any glance.
The purpose of today's tour is to show one of the most interesting art galleries in Madrid. Perhaps I am starting from a prejudice, but I have the feeling that when a traveler comes to visit Madrid, in terms of cultural offerings, he has already noted in his agenda the visit to the magnificent Prado Museum, the Thyssen Museum, the Reina Sofia Art Center and little else. Today I will try to add another place dedicated to art to that tourist agenda.
There are three spaces in Madrid dedicated to the exhibition of works of art of which I am a regular visitor. These are the Canal de Isabel II Hall, the El Águila cultural complex and the Alcalá 31 exhibition hall. Today it will be the turn of the latter. I can not forget an important note, the visit to these rooms is free for everyone throughout the year.

Antes de comenzar con nuestro pequeño recorrido creo que es necesario dar una serie de apuntes sobre esta gran ciudad.
Situada aproximadamente en el centro geográfico de la Península Ibérica (sur de Europa), Madrid es la capital de España. Tiene una población de más de tres millones de habitantes, de los cuales, si hacemos caso a las estadísticas, la gran mayoría está formada por madrileñas y madrileños. Este punto es importante, ya que si te disgustan los madrileños/as es mejor que no visites Madrid, hay muchos/as, quizás demasiados/as incluso si no te incomodan.
Otro punto importante es el clima, aunque el visitante foráneo se empeña en llegar en julio y agosto, meses en los cuales las temperaturas pueden llegar a 40º C, ya saben clima continental: frío en invierno y mucho calor en verano, personalmente aconsejo las visitas en otoño y primavera. No sólo el clima es menos aterrador, sino que Madrid, si el cielo acompaña y no llueve, se ve con una luminosidad muy especial que lo envuelve todo. Una luz blanca, casi transparente, que hace que la ciudad se vea muy hermosa, con una gama de colores relucientes que el resto del año se esconde en algún lugar lejano a cualquier mirada.
El recorrido de hoy tiene el objeto de mostrar uno de las salas de arte más interesantes de Madrid. Quizás parta de un prejuicio, pero, tengo la sensación de que cuando algún viajero llega de visita a Madrid, en cuanto a la oferta cultural ya tiene anotada en su agenda la visita al magnífico Museo del Prado, al Museo Thyssen, al Centro de Arte Reina Sofía y poco más. Hoy trataré de que en esa agenda turística se añada otro lugar de visita dedicado al arte.
Existen tres espacios en Madrid destinados a la exposición de obras de arte de los que soy un asiduo visitante. Estos son la Sala Canal de Isabel II, el complejo cultural El Águila y la sala de exposiciones Alcalá 31. Hoy le tocará el turno a esta última. No se me puede olvidar un apunte importante, la visita a estas salas es gratuita para todo el mundo durante todo el año.

The Alcalá 31 Hall
The Sala Alcalá 31, is located in Alcalá street at number 31 🤔. You can reach it by public transport without any problem. The two nearest Metro stations are Sevilla and Banco de España. The Sevilla station is the closest one and is located a few meters from the entrance of Alcalá 31. However, our tour will begin at the Banco de España Metro station.
Just out of the metro station Banco de España, by either of the two exits, we will find several emblematic buildings of the city of Madrid, and the Fuente de Cibeles, of which I believe there is a replica in Mexico City.
The most striking building is the Palacio de Cibeles, current headquarters of the Madrid City Hall and former Post Office. With a huge facade of a gleaming white, I have always been struck by both its ornamentation and the towers that guard the building.
This Palace is open to the public, on occasion I have visited it to see some installation or to have a drink in the cafeteria. Inside, I can say that it is monumental, I have felt small while walking around inside.
Another building that attracts the eye is the main headquarters of the Bank of Spain, although in this case, this building in the artistic level does not bring me much. The only thing I can highlight is the clock, which since I was a child has fascinated me by the large shiny dial that crowns it.
La Sala Alcalá 31
La Sala Alcalá 31, está situada en el número 31 en la Calle de Alcalá 🤔. Se puede llegar a ella en transporte público sin ningún problema. Las dos estaciones de metro más cercanas son Sevilla y Banco de España. La estación de Sevilla es la más próxima, encontrándose a escasos metros de la entrada de Alcalá 31. Sin embargo, nuestro recorrido comenzará en la estaciónde Metro de Banco de España.
Recién salimos de la estación de metro de Banco de España, por cualquiera de las dos salidas, nos encontraremos con varios edificios emblemáticos de la ciudad de Madrid, y con la Fuente de Cibeles, de la que creo que hay una réplica en la Ciudad de México.
La construcción que más llama la atención es el Palacio de Cibeles, actual sede del Ayuntamiento de Madrid y antigua Casa de Correos. Con una fachada enorme de un blanco resplandeciente, siempre me ha llamado la atención tanto por su ornamentación como por las torres que custodian la construcción.
Este Palacio se encuentra abierto al público, en alguna ocasión lo he visitado para ver alguna instalación o para tomar un refresco en su cafetería. Por dentro, puedo decir que es monumental, me he sentido pequeño estando paseando por su interior.
Otro edificio que atrae la mirada es la sede principal del Banco de España, aunque en este caso, esta edificación en el plano artístico no me aporta gran cosa. Lo único que puedo destacar es el reloj, que desde peqeñito me ha fascinado por la gran esfera brillante que lo corona.

Another reason to visit Madrid in October, if you are interested in books written in Spanish, is the presence of the Old and Second-hand Book Fair (Feria del Libro Viejo y de Ocasión - Paseo de Recoletos).Very close to where we are you can see the first booths of this fair.

Before starting our way along Alcalá Street, towards Puerta de Sol, we must mention the building of the Casa de América (Linares Palace), which was said to be inhabited by a ghost. We can see this building in the photograph below.

As we leave the Plaza de Cibeles behind, we will find again other emblematic buildings. On the right we will find the Instituto Cervantes, following the path towards our goal, on the left we can see the building that houses the Círculo de Bellas, where they also organize exhibitions, gatherings, cinema, etc., but which I have not visited for years.
Antes de comenzar nuestro camino por la Calle de Alcalá, en sentido a la Puerta de Sol, hay que mencionar el edifico de la Casa de América (Palacio de Linares), del que se decía que habitaba en él un fantasma. Podemos ver este edificio en la fotografía.
Según vamos dejando la Plaza de Cibeles atrás, nos iremos encontrando de nuevo con otros edificios emblemáticos. A la derecha encontraremos el Instituto Cervantes, siguiendo el camino hacia nuestro objetivo, a la izquierda podemos ver el edificio que alberga el Círculo de Bellas, donde también se organizan exposiciones, tertulias, cine, etc., pero al que hace años que no visito.

Arriving at Alcalá 31, the hall is certainly not impressive on the outside. However, inside the atmosphere is ideal for an exhibition or for meditation. Upon entering we will find an elongated and very bright rectangular space. This brightness is caused both by the good artificial lighting, and mainly to the natural light that enters through large windows, which is reflected in the pure white walls and polished marble floor.The light, its high ceilings and tranquility (it has few visitors) make this space an ideal place to enjoy any exhibition. In summer, its good air conditioning system makes visits even more pleasant.
Llegando a Alcalá 31, la sala por fuera ciertamente no impresiona. Sin embargo, por dentro el ambiente es ideal para una exposición o para hacer meditación. Al entrar nos encontraremos con un espacio rectangular alargado y muy luminoso. Esta luminosidad es causada tanto por la buena iluminación artificial, como principalmente a la luz natural que entra por grandes ventanales, que se refleja en el blanco puro que recubre sus paredes y el mármol pulido del suelo. La luz, sus altos techos y la tranquilidad (tiene pocas visitas) convierten a este espacio en un lugar ideal para saborear cualquier exposición. En verano, su buen sistema de aire acondicionado hace que las visitas sean todavía más agradables.

This year I have attended two exhibitions of which I leave some pictures. One is the Jacobo Castellano, which can still be visited, and the other was one dedicated to the most recent work of the artist Eva Lootz.

Near the bar where we drank the refreshing beer is the Royal Palace. Cercano al bar en donde tomamos la refrescante cerveza se encuentra el Palacio Real. Mi primera idea fue andar hasta el metro de Opera y volver a casa, pero recordé la luz de los atardeceres en estas fechas por Madrid. Pasé por el Teatro Real, lo dejé atrás, entré en la Plaza de Oriente, y de forma casi automática mis pies me llevaron a un mirador que se encuentra en un lateral del Palacio Real.
Visto el amanecer, despedido el Sol con un hasta mañana, deshice el camino andado anteriormente. Crucé la Plaza de Oriente entre estatuas de reyes, pasé de nuevo por el Teatro Real, me despedí de Isabel II con un hasta pronto y en la estación de Metro de Opera tomé la línea 2 en dirección...

Y bueno, ya entrando más en la materia del post, excelente ese dato de la temporada porque es necesario considerarla si uno va como turista con tiempo limitado, lo más importante es poder tener el clima a nuestro favor para poder disfrutar de todo el recorrido sin sorpresas indeseadas 👀
Y bueno qué te puedo decir, este post me dejo impresionada porque las fotos te quedaron taaan TOP es que capturan demasiado la esencia de los espacios que nos compartes. Este estilo de publicación está genial (vamos a ver cuándo me animo a hacer yo mi primer post por allá). Muchas gracias @helicreamarket, está hecho con cariño y disfrutando de lo que escribía. También me ha permitido cerrar la exposición de Eva Lootz, quedaba una parte y no he tenido tiempo para la segunda entrega. Eva Lootz me encanta, es de las pocas creadoras vivas que sigo, y tenía que cerrar esa exposición.
Si algún día vienes por aquí, seguro que no te pierdes aunque no tengas mapa, si no tienes inconveniente te enseño Madrid con mucho gusto.
