The Neogothic Temple of Palermo, Buenos Aires.

In the Palermo neighborhood, in what is known as Palermo Soho, there is an imposing basilica that beautifully adorns Plaza Güemes. It is a temple of Catholic worship that I have already talked about on other occasions, the difference between this post and the previous ones is that it includes images of the interior... Yes, I have finally been able to enter one of these many cathedrals in the city to admire its internal beauty and details.

This has been one of my plans to take photos and bring them to you. Every time I passed by here it was closed and yesterday the first day of November and it being Friday there was a mass in the basilica, I looked for a pair of lenses, my camera and I returned for those photos :)

These are the moments where I would love to have a much more angular lens because of the angles and perspectives.

Still, I think that some of these photos have been interesting and I have been able to take advantage of them.

Basilica of the Holy Spirit, Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, is how this church is known. Before its complete construction, there was already a chapel that operated on the site at the end of 1890, but it was not until 1907 that this imposing structure was inaugurated.

Here is a small collage of four photos of the central part of the basilica, the name and the sculptures that stand out at the entrance.

I have always been fascinated by these types of places, buildings or cathedrals, not for religious themes but for artistic themes, architecture, design or styles. It is precisely the style of architecture that fascinates me the most, the neo-Gothic, always taking the buildings to the heights and with its characteristic towers. These reach 53 meters in height.

DSC_0072_1.jpg

The experience of taking photos there is in some ways pleasant but in another way it's weird, I feel like I'm disrupting the cult of these people.

DSC_0089.jpg

The mass was just beginning, only the pastor spoke and every so often I heard the shutter of my camera.

DSC_0087_1.jpgDSC_0080.jpgDSC_0086_1.jpg

This is one of my favorite photos, look at how many details and how beautiful the dome looks. It is a shame that currently there are no more construction projects for this type of buildings, but not only for religious cults but in general.

DSC_0090.jpg

The first 50 years of the last century were an impressive wave dedicated to grandiose architecture, not counting the castles of many centuries ago.

DSC_0077.jpg

Nowadays we have tried to do everything possible to modernize and flatten all the buildings in such a way that they are visually bland from my point of view.

It is enough to enter this cathedral as well as many others to have a different and particular appreciation of this architectural beauty.

DSC_0079.jpg

The arches, columns, sculptures and naves are also a symbol of elegance.

The cathedral, in addition to having a neo-Gothic style due to its characteristic towers, also has a Roman style. An interesting fact is that some of the materials they used for their decoration or accessories were brought from Germany, such as clocks and bells.

DSC_0083_1.jpg

Juan Beckeert was the designer and was also a preacher of the basilica.

DSC_0076.jpg

When leaving the cathedral I took a short tour of the lateral sides, it covers an entire block and the entrance is right in Plaza Güemes.

DSC_0099.jpg

It was a tour and a pleasant visit, I must mention that I have been encouraged to visit the interior of other impressive cathedrals in the city of Buenos Aires.

DSC_0091.jpg

This way I can even learn a little more about the history, the architecture and some interesting facts that I don't know at the moment.

It is a pleasure for me to share with you valuable content that may be of interest to some here.

I hope you liked this article, some of these photos and of course this neo-Gothic temple.

Lovely neogothic style temple. I always enjoy visiting religious buildings.
I like the atmosphere and also the low light situations with candlelight and the light via the beautiful stained glass windows.
Very cool documentary style shoot!

Visiting these places is a unique experience in different ways, in addition to photography. It is certainly a unique atmosphere.

Thanks a lot for your great comment @friendlymoose friend :)

It is undoubtedly a work of art and architectural heritage that deserves these photographs.

It is a place where I wanted to go for a long time, visit the interior, the architectural details are impressive :)

Para mí es de los estilos más atractivos y visualmente impactantes :) Gracias por pasarte @keritroberts :)

Well that's absolutely beautiful, it baffles me that that this iconic building with stunning design isn't even a 20th century building

It was inaugurated in the early 1900s. It is one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic buildings in the city of Buenos Aires.

Hello! Thank you very much for posting in the Worldmappin Community 😃.

We noticed that you included more than one PIN code in the post. This is not necessary and can lead to double pinning. If you are writing about a trip with different points of interest, it is advisable to indicate only one PIN of the most important place or central location.

Double pinning can lead to problems for our curation, so if you keep doing it we can not guarantee you to be considered for our daily Travel Digest.

We recommend that you obtain the code either from https://worldmappin.com/, or by selecting the location directly on the small map at the bottom of the text editor in the PeakD interface.

Cheers!

I totally understand, I thought it was necessary to pin it both on the map and in the section indicated as a "Location Code" in the Peakd editor. I can edit it if necessary and it was also clear for my future posts 😊

Thank you very much for notifying me.

Hi @dimascastillo90, thanks for your support and your understanding 😀. One is enough ☀️😎

Wow friend, what a temple! and what a beautiful architectural design, I love all the buildings with Gothic features

There are many styles of architecture but neo-Gothic is most captivating at first sight, in my opinion. I will try to find other buildings with this style.

Thanks for stopping by dear @lileisabel :)
