A Day in the Life

Welcome back.

When you think of crowded cities in our world, a few spots probably jump to mind.

NYC, USA. Tokyo, Japan. New Delhi, India. Dhaka, Bangladesh. Hong Kong, PRC. Perhaps a few others.

What probably doesn't come to mind is Taipei, Taiwan.

Yong He, Taipei (technically New Taipei City) boasts a density somewhere in the neighborhood of 40,000 people per square km.

Good enough for top 3 most densely populated places on the planet, depending on where ya look.

Wild.

Here are a couple of photos I snapped whilst exploring the area one afternoon / evening.

Until Next Time

I miss Taiwan so much, lived out there for four years and left ( not by choice) before COVID. It's such an under rated country and has so much to offer.

It's great to see that AZ had inspired more Splinterlands players to venture further into the Hive ecosystem and it's especially great to see more users from Taiwan

Hey @livinguktaiwan ! I've stumbled across your posts many times - most recently as I discovered @worldmappin & saw a few pins from ya here in Tainan - and was wondering if you were still around these parts.

Agreed. Taiwan somehow maintains a status as a hidden gem below the radar of the traditional tourist travel spots for most folks (which I'm perfectly content with), but nearly everyone I've met that comes here winds up stayin for longer than intended (me) or leaves and finds themselves drawn back in a few years later (also me haha).

Cheers!

I love Tainan, not as cosmopolitan as TPE, has more character than TC, and a bit more buzz than Tai Tung. I was living in TC when I was in Taiwan as a Taiwanese friend told me the further down south you go from TC the more people speak Taiwanese. I figured I'd concentrate to improve my mandarin instead of trying to learn another dialect.

Btw, do you know @stoodkev? He's a Hive witness and developed the Keychain app. He and his team was based in TN previously, dunno if he's still there or moved around.

And finally, did I detect a British accent in your podcast?

Agreed. Tainan is a special spot of the country - lotta culture, lots happenin, warm people, great food. Though I will say that I love Taitong. TC is a great spot, too.

I have connected with stoodkev, yea! The keychain office, last we spoke, is not too far from mine. In fact, if ya see this kev, I've been meaning to reach back out to you!

Yup! My good buddy, Wascal, and I founded the podcast a few years back and yes, he's a proper Manc - been here for years. He's since moved on from the podcast but we've kept him a part of the intro.

Any plans of returning to Formosa?

Hey man, sure! I'm flying to Europe to get on my way to the HiveFest at the end of the week, but we can try to figure out a time before or after that!

Sweet! Will flick ya a message on discord. Have fun @ Hive fest!

Look forward to seeing you again Quentin, it's been a long time

Yeah, me too!
See you soon! Split should be fun =)

I went back March 2023 for 7 weeks, first time after COVID. It was lovely to be back again, they closed the border after I left in Feb 2020 so I was locked out for three years. Will definitely be back again for holidays but not to live long term, too much effort to restart life in a new country

Nice! I managed to move back as COVID was peaking in the rest of the world (Jan. 2021) but yea, quarantine sucked. Anyway, here we are. Great place to call home for the time being. Having bounced between 3 hemispheres since 2016, I can relate. Moving intercontinentally is absolutely exhausting. Would love to have a little Hive meet up once ya back in Taiwan!

Definitely. Will hook you up when I go back, maybe next year. I didn't get to go down south last year as I was so busy packing and shipping my life back home

Hey, yep, still in Tainan, are you going to Split?

Yup, see you soon!

BJ here is an educator. Its a shame that he haven't developed his personal account. One and only podcast creator on hive.

reminds me of home, at least your first shot.

India has long been on my list. Perhaps one of these days I'll post photos of home, az!

Yeah sure! I love to visit Taiwan too. The geology of Taiwan is fascinating!

Come on over dude - would love to host the familia Azircon!
