Trafaria Port city trail⛰️🚩🌎 (En-Es)

Hello adventurous friends, I am passing by here to bring you a new experience and thus complete my "Road to the Atlantic" trail, which includes a walk along the entire Atlantic coast of Portugal, or at least the southern edge. To finish this great odyssey, I will travel to the center of Almada, very close to the beach area, to do the "Trafaria" trail, approximately 8 km long and lasting 5 hours. The weather was unforgiving but it could not make me back down and I will achieve my goal. Enjoy this experience.⛰️🌎

How interesting is the trail?📸⛰️ /Que tan interesante es el sendero?🌎🚩

Well, where to start? Without a doubt, the trail brings us an endless number of challenges and obstacles that we will gradually overcome as we advance towards our goal. Starting in the cities of Corroios and passing through Almada make the experience a mix of concrete and nature. I am not a fan of hiking in the middle of summer because the heat does not help, and well, today I had a body temperature of almost forty degrees. I ran out of water in the protected area of the desert, which made me speed up my walk to get to Trafaria to buy water.🌎🚩

Little by little we advance a few kilometers until we leave the main road and leave behind "the concrete jungle" and we begin to see the sea and a forest on the horizon, that is a good sign because we are arriving at the protected area called: (caparica coast), there the road is wilder, it is a little warmer and we begin to walk in the sand come prepared with the appropriate equipment, yes or yes with hiking boots and walking sticks are optional.⛰️😁🚙

We enter the Costa da Caparica reserve📸⛰️ /Entramos a la reserva de costa da caparica🌎🚩

This part is not new, I have been here before so I will not dwell much on it. However, I can mention that this area is known as a protected area because there are hills over 100 meters high that date back to the Paleozoic era millions of years ago, and to preserve them and prevent cars or motorcycles from passing through, there are supervised paths just for hiking enthusiasts.🚩👨🏻‍🦯⛲

4km in arid zone📸⛰️ /4km en zona arida🌎🚩

We reached the last four kilometres and the most difficult part is at 4:00 pm and well the sun is impossible, I am starting to feel tired and I take more continuous breaks but my motivation is that from now on this whole area is new to me and I plan to discover the best views towards the city of Almada and the Atlantic Ocean, the path is well signposted and from here there is no civilization for at least 2km so you have to be careful.⛰️🚵🏻‍♀️🚙

When we reach the last stretch of the walk we will see this desert landscape typical of arid Mediterranean areas, and more so now in summer we will see little vegetation and flowers, you always have to think that we are heading to the right, that is, Trafaria is to the north, be careful not to take sandy paths and getting lost is very easy in this area.🚙🚵🏻‍♀️

My favorite part is here, what a piece of landscape and view, clearly the Atlantic Ocean then we have Almada, Costa de Caparica and other large cities on the southern shore, I think we are more than two hundred meters high, maybe more, it is quite dangerous, be careful not to get close to the cliff as some tourists fell here, SERIOUSLY BE CAREFUL.🚵🏻‍♀️🚙

After two kilometers on this hill and enjoying the landscape we come out to a small village also in the middle of pine forests to almost finish the route we only have approximately 1.5km left.⛰️👨🏻‍🦯

We arrived at the city of Trafaria📸⛰️ /Llegamos a la ciudad de Trafaria🌎🚩

Central square⛲🚩

And finally I'm close to achieving my goal, but first a little walk around the small town, which apparently is celebrating carnival today. I see lots of colorful decorations everywhere and several fast food stands in the central area, also a group of musicians playing popular Portuguese music. I quickly arrived to buy water since I didn't have any! We can visit the main church, which is from the 17th century. This area has always been inhabited, even since the Romanesque era, due to the Tejo River.🧭📸

A nice place to stay for a day or two on vacation, it has everything you need: supermarkets, cheap hotels, a small beach, the transport boat that takes you to Belem Lisbon, the beach is not very crowded because it is not a supervised beach, in the distance you can see the center of Lisbon and all this is the Tejo river.⛰️🚵🏻‍♀️

And friends, this is how my trail ends in front of the sign that has the description of the trail. If you look closely, I completed the entire route along the coast 100%. I was missing this part. Now we visited Porto Brandao and Trafaria. It was an intense and difficult walk. Normally in spring you can do it in 3 hours, but now in summer, with breaks, it takes about five hours.⛰️🚵🏻‍♀️
