Hello everybody! Today I come to tell you about the visit I made some time ago to the town of Olite, in Navarra, northern Spain. The most remarkable thing to visit there is its castle, or rather palace (because it was more for the residence of the courtiers, it was not used as a military fortress), which is quite reminiscent of those Disney princesses and princes stories because of its appearance. Actually, the palace was deteriorated and was in a state of neglect for many years, but some architects rebuilt in 1932 what they could and the truth is that it has been very nice and worth visiting.
What was lost forever was the interior decoration and the gardens that surrounded it, but still, it is worth it. However, the visit is not free, it costs about 5 € (at least, when I visited) per adult person if you do not want a guided tour. I understand that if you choose the guided tour option the price will rise a little.
We traveled by motorcycle to the village from our city (Zaragoza). And when we parked, we rode through the streets towards the Palace..-
The look of the town, as expected, is very medieval and they have even included those typical little flags that you see in movies of this style.
As we approached the line to buy tickets, it was inevitable to notice the architecture and the arches.
The interior, although empty, had included some ornamentation to inspire us to see what it was like when it was still in operation.
The palace has several buildings and towers, some separate and others connected by walkways on the outside. Without a doubt, the balconies were beautiful.
In addition to being able to walk along all the walkways connecting the buildings, you could also climb the steps to the top of the towers to have a nice view of the whole palace and also of the town.
We continue ascending to the highest points of the towers to appreciate the views.

There was also a small museum inside, where you could see a model of how the castle looked before it was rebuilt.
I was still surprised by the views, and I saw that there were also small gardens around, perhaps not as large as those that once existed, but it was a joy to see vegetation nearby, beyond the ivy that climbed up the towers and balconies.
We climbed to the highest point and from here we could see the street through which we had entered and the sculpture of the pyramid.
The stairs, as could not be otherwise in narrow towers, were all spiral staircases .
In some of the windows there were seats to rest.
We went down to see other corners such as the patios, where they also had more vegetation. We returned back to the bike, but not before noticing a thermometer in the square, which also looked old, although perhaps it was just a prop.

Absolutely, your description of your visit to Olite sounds truly enchanting. The palace's transformation from neglect to its current splendid state is indeed a testament to the power of restoration. It's wonderful to hear that the castle's appearance evokes the charm of Disney tales. Your experience highlights the magic of exploring historical sites and witnessing their rejuvenation.
