Hi everyone :)
I recently decided to take a trip to the center south of my country. The idea was simple and basic, to relax and visit new places, without going into great adventures, i wanted to take advantage of the trip to learn a little about the history of the places i visited, but without feeling rushed or overloaded with that typical tourist routine that already goes with a script and with the time counted.
So i chose to choose a cozy place where i could return every night after a few walks.
After some research, i found a small accommodation in the heart of the region, which became my personal refuge throughout my stay, it was a quiet place, with a simple but cozy decoration, where i could relax at the end of the day.
The location also turned out to be perfect, it was in the center of several interesting places to visit, and so, every day i left for a new city or village, where i was delighted with its history and traditions.
But what made this trip really special was the time chosen to make it, as it is not the high season of summer, when the heat is high and the influx of tourists is huge, everything is calmer and more peaceful.
The experience was completely different from previous visits, where instead of crowds of tourists, i found more intimate and authentic locals, the locals were more friendly and welcoming, and i was able to have truly meaningful conversations about the history and culture of the area.
Instead of feeling like a mere visitor, i felt part of a community and connected with local traditions and roots.
By the end of my getaway, i felt refreshed and revitalized as i had not adhered to a strict visiting schedule, but had enjoyed a more personal and down-to-earth experience, all thanks to choosing the welcoming place to stay and the decision to do this visit outside high season.
I learned that the best way to enjoy a trip is not necessarily going in search of great adventures, but authentic and meaningful experiences.
After this brief introduction, i want to talk a little about a place where i passed and had the opportunity to photograph to share some views with you, and that place is Sines, a Portuguese city in the district of Setúbal, Alentejo region, but in another article i will go deeper better the history of this city and share other photographic records, because what i want to share today is the visit to the Castle of Sines.
The Castle of Sines is a landmark of great importance in the history of Portugal, its history being closely linked to the navigator Vasco da Gama, who was born in this city, being one of the most important navigators in the history of Portugal.
The castle fortress was built in the 13th century by the Moors and conquered by the Christians in the 15th century, becoming an important defensive structure over the centuries.
Right at the entrance we come across a Manueline-style portal, made of carved stone, with details of typical Portuguese architecture with nautical symbols alluding to the strong practices of those times.
Even in the distance, the imposing homage tower is visible, the main lookout point, being the highest structure in the castle, with a direct view of the sea and the city.
Once inside the castle, those who arrive there can explore several areas of the fortress, including the walls, towers and courtyards.
The castle also houses an interpretation center, where interactive and informative exhibitions about the history and culture of the City are presented.
The place not only reminds us of ancient times, but even today serves as a stage in its central square for various events organized by the city's administrative bodies, thus continuing to have great cultural importance, as well as tourist and artistic value.
That´s all for today, i hope you like it

Portugal looks so beautiful and clean. The old architecture is so gorgeous and I have now added Portugal to the places I would like to visit.
It is :) just saw your description: "Dreaming of living near the ocean and sleeping underneath the stars." this could be a perfect place for you ;) Thank you for stopping by :)
I am originally from the Philippines and I miss the ocean. Portugal does sound perfect but I would need to learn Portuguese first 🙂

The pictures are very beautiful and I like the fact that near the castle is a very green zone and very near there is another kind of view, a beach.
Visiting locations that are not so crowded with tourists as others are, feel like a deep breath of fresh air for many travel lovers. I have no problem visiting crowded locations but sometimes I feel like I'm not able to see the whole beauty of the place when there are too many tourists. 😜
What beautiful photos, they made me want to be there so badly. Thank you for sharing these photos with us. 🤗
