Sometimes it hurts to be empathetic,
for the cries of others are found in the static,
and while the world continues its dance,
the pain of others drowns our hope.
I see faces lost in seas of grief,
whispering stories that the wind poisons.
And though the sun shines in a golden sky,
there are clouds of anguish that in my chest I've carried.
They tell me to laugh, that life is a game,
But in every laugh, I feel a deep fire.
The joy vanishes in black tears,
and the ticking of time denies my illusions.
Sometimes, in silence, I search for connection,
a thread of light in the midst of grief.
Empathy binds me to a wounded world,
each other's story is a broken heart.
Yes, this describes one of the unfortunate downside of having the capability to empathize, still, I think it's better to have empathy rather than not despite this.🙂
