alone on Mars

The Mars Exploration Rover Curiosity has captured signs of seasonal changes on Mars.

This could be evidence of life, scientists hope.
Seismic wave analysis from NASA's Mars lander Insight also revealed large amounts of water in the crust, located between 11.5 and 20 kilometers underground.

The process of transforming Mars into a habitable environment for humans is called Mars terraforming.

Many scientists, including James, have become involved in this project.
Advances in robotics have sent many robots to Mars.

AI-enabled exploration robots, scientific robots, construction robots, and other robots have been sent to work on the terraforming project.

These robots were controlled in near real-time and used AI technology to correct errors to create a habitable base for humans.
Once the Mars base was complete, four scientists, including James, traveled to Mars in a spacecraft.
Once on Mars, James first had an exploration robot locate underground water and a construction robot bring it up to the surface.

After months of work, the Mars station had a water supply, and the water was electrolyzed to provide air to the station.

The scientists who came with James were ecstatic.

“Finally, we can use water on Mars”

Biologist Richard attempted to germinate seeds brought from Earth to grow plants.

What started out as a smooth project turned into an untold ordeal.

Radiation exposure, huge dust storms, and unexpected accidents claimed the lives of the other scientists except for James.

From Mars, James communicated with Earth, and Earth agreed to send other scientists.

James is alone on Mars until the other scientists arrive.

James continued to work with the robots and their projects, looking at the records left by the other scientists.

James saw Earth from Mars through a telescope. It looked like a small star in the sky, but it was distinguishable from Earth's footprint by its blue glow.

Alone James thought.

“This place, Mars, will one day be as populated as Earth. All the hard work of scientists so far will not be in vain.”
