En estos días he estado viendo tutoriales para mejorar mi técnica con los crayones de óleo pastel así que nada mejor que la práctica para ir corrigiendo, aprendiendo y perfeccionando nuestras habilidades, recuerden lo que dice el dicho, "la práctica hace al maestro" ☝🏻. Los creyones de óleo pastel ofrecen un acabado denso y saturado que me parece muy llamativo y, según mi visión personal, me permiten enfocarme más en el conjunto que en los detalles, lo que me ayuda a cambiar un poco la suavidad y la delicadeza con la que asocio la técnica de la acuarela, que es en la que más me he enfocado últimamente, pero me gusta hacer transiciones entre las técnicas porque siento que eso ayuda a nutrir mis habilidades artísticas.

Hello hivers! Lately, I've been watching tutorials to improve my oil pastel technique, so there's nothing better than practice to correct, learn, and perfect our skills. Remember the saying, "practice makes perfect" ☝🏻. Oil pastels offer a dense and saturated finish that I find very striking, and in my personal opinion, they allow me to focus more on the overall effect than on the details. This helps me shift away from the softness and delicacy I associate with watercolor, which is what I've been focusing on most lately. But I like to make transitions between techniques because I feel that it helps enrich my artistic abilities.

Hace unas publicaciones atrás les había comentado que quiero mejorar mi forma de dibujar gatos, ya he hecho unos cuantos con acuarela, así que hoy decidí hacer uno con creyones de óleo pastel, los invito a ver cómo le di forma y vida a este lindo gatito 😸.

A few posts back I mentioned that I want to improve my cat drawing skills. I've already done a few with watercolors, so today I decided to do one with oil pastel crayons. I invite you to see how I gave shape and life to this cute kitty 😸.

Para hacer este gato estrenaré un block de dibujo que me regaló mi hermana 😸. El resto de los materiales que utilicé fueron: lápiz, borrador, regla, marcadores negro y verde, y creyones de óleo pastel. Lo primero que hice fue dibujar un marco y crear el boceto.

To draw this cat, I'll be using a new sketchbook my sister gave me 😸. The other materials I used were: a pencil, eraser, ruler, black and green markers, and oil pastel crayons. The first thing I did was draw a frame and create the sketch.

Al principio había dibujado la nariz muy cerca de los ojos, y aunque eso no está mal, le daba un aspecto como enojado y malvado 😈😂😂, así que como mi intención era hacer un gatito más dulce, dibujé la nariz un poquito más abajo y funcionó, su semblante cambió, no mucho pero algo jejeje.

At first I had drawn the nose very close to the eyes, and although that's not bad, it gave him a kind of angry and evil look 😈😂😂, so since my intention was to make a sweeter kitten, I drew the nose a little lower and it worked, his expression changed, not much but a little hehehe.

Empecé dándole color a los ojos con amarillo, verde claro y verde grama y marcando las pequeñas pupilas con negro, para esto usé un marcador porque me da mayor precisión.

I started by coloring the eyes with yellow, light green and grass green and marking the small pupils with black; for this I used a marker because it gives me greater precision.

Este lindo gatito está cómodamente acostado descansando en una cesta sobre una manta tejida, la pinté de verde claro y con un verde más oscuro hice los detalles del tejido y algunas sombras.

This cute kitten is comfortably lying down resting in a basket on a woven blanket. I painted it light green and used a darker green to add details to the weaving and some shadows.

Algunos puntos de luz de color crema sobre el gato antes de darle su color definitivo. Confieso que pensé dejarlo así, blanco, me gustó cómo se veía, tierno y dulce, pero eso hubiese sido muy fácil jajaja así que sentí que debía seguir y hacer lo que tenía planificado, que este fuese un gato negro.

I added a few cream-colored highlights to the cat before giving him his final color. I confess I thought about leaving him white; I liked how it looked, cute and sweet, but that would have been too easy, hahaha, so I felt I should stick to my plan and make him a black cat.

Usé gris y negro para terminar de colorear todo el gato.

I used gray and black to finish coloring the whole cat.

Seguí intensificando los colores, marqué algunas sombras en la manta con negro y también coloreé la cesta con naranja y marrón. Usé el marcador verde para pintar en los pequeños espacios del iris que el creyón no pudo cubrir.

I continued to intensify the colors, adding black to some shadows on the blanket and also coloring the basket with orange and brown. I used the green marker to paint in the small areas of the iris that the crayon couldn't cover.

Y aquí les presento el resultado final ☝🏻😸. ¿Qué les parece cómo se ve este dibujo con el estilo y la textura que le dan los creyones de óleo pastel?
