Hello, People!
It's been a very... very long time since I posted any art on here. I've just been so busy with commissions and family drama. Even now as I type this, I have a backlog of four commissioned pieces that need my attention. Nonetheless, I thought I'd just share what I've been doing in my spare time- another reason for the lack of posts... sketches and practice.
I've made it my business to never let a moment pass without making any art, even if it's just drawings and doodles. A couple of months back I decided to draw creatures as often as I could to get a little familiar with non-human forms. As a character artist, this has been the weakest point in my skill set (aside from drawing mechanical parts and mecha- which I plan to fix too), and filling that space is very important to me.
I have also taken to doing ink sketch portraits as a warm-up (as the ones seen below) to get my juices going before getting back into any project, be it personal or client work- it makes a great difference.
For a long time now I wanted to start doing digital ink sketches, as this was my first love when I was a child; having been raised on manga and comics, but could never find a good digital brush for my liking. Luckily I found one brush to rule them all.
The Kyle T Webster brushes are a godsend. I found these while looking at YT videos on ink sketching and came across his brush sets. These brushes range from pencils, inks, and pastels. The textures and dynamics are awesome and "feel" natural for digital medium. You all should give them a try.
