Carmilla - Basalt Keep of Wilven the Yellow art

Here's another concept piece for Basalt Keep of Wilven the Yellow. I had a lot of fun with this one. Carmilla is based upon the antagonist from the first published modern vampire novel by Sheridan De Fanu. Carmilla was written 26 years before Bram Stoker's Dracula and there is a similar plotline. However, in Carmilla, the vampire at large is female and she preys on female victims and there are a lot of hints to lesbian themes. It is somewhat reminiscent of Stoker's tale in the writing style and even in plotline and one wonders how much Stoker was directly influenced by the tale. Be that as it may, I've included Ca(r)milla as one of the characters in the Basalt Keep (and yes, the brackets are intentional around the r).
