#Wednesday Walk - Enjoying the Early-Morning Hours!

in Wednesday Walk3 months ago

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit Wednesday Walk Community, created by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

Today I want to share some early morning moments (including sunrises) from various places on the east coast of South Africa.

We didn't have much time for going out on walks lately, so I decided to use a theme today and share some photos that were taken over several walks.

My theme for today will be early mornings, which include some sunrises.

Umhlanga

Let's start in Umhlanga.

I'm sure that by now many of you would know (and even recognize) the Whalebone Pier in Umhlanga.

This photo was taken just after 6am. during sunrise.

In the next photo, the sun is starting to make its appearance and quite a few people are already out and about, enjoying the beauty of the arrival of a new day.

DSC_2613.jpg

And I wasn't the only one with a camera...

In the next photo you can see at least two other photographers setting up their cameras on tripods, and just about everybody in the background taking photos with their mobile phones.

Focusing on getting that perfect shot...

Thinking about that next shot...

Shortly after taking these photos, I had to fetch my wife from the airport.

I stopped next to the airport before going to the parking area, and got some nice shots of this aircraft with the rising sun behind it.

On another occasion, we went for an early morning coffee at a coffee shop just above the Umhlanga Beach.

On our way, walking up to the coffee shop, I captured some shots of the rising sun over the ocean.

We then reached the boardwalk that leads you to the coffee shop.

It's a nice 800m walk through the forest..

...until you finally arrive at the coffee shop.

Ballito

Next, we move further up north, still along the East Coast of South Africa.

We sometimes have fun with all these east, north, south directions.

Where we are in Durban, is on the East Coast of South Africa in the province of Kwazulu Natal.

But when you travel down south toward the province of the Eastern Cape, you travel along the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal. So now you are traveling along the South Coast of Kwazulul Natal on the East Coast of South Africa.

On the other hand, anything above Durban all the way up to Mozambique, is the North Coast of Kwazulu Natal. So now you will be traveling along the North Coast on the East Coast of South Africa...lol!

This is an early morning photo on a beach in Ballito, about 50km north of Durban.

Catching the reflection of the early-morning sun on the water...

DSC_8087-2.jpg

Let's travel back toward Durban, now traveling south on the North Coast along the East Coast of South Africa...lol.

Durban.

Arriving in Durban, we go all the way to the southern end of Durban, to the Point.

Again, arriving there at dawn, we walked past the channels where you can enjoy some boat rides (a little later in the day though).

DSC_8850.jpg

A little later, the sun was up, but not visible due to the cloudy weather.

The next photo was taken while I was standing on the promenade, just above the Point Beach, looking out over the KuD'Ta Pier, with the KuD'Ta Pub right at the end of the pier.

DSC_8868-2.jpg

From here, we travel along the side of the Durban Harbor until we get to Wilson's Wharf.

I love walking around here watching the boats, especially early in the morning while it is still quiet and peaceful.

Very seldom get to beaches of late still waiting for signal water is clean for dog to enjoy a swim in the river. Mornings cannot be beaten up bright and early watching the sun come up.

Yes, the water is a sad situation. And especially if you are taking dog for a walk on the beach, rather be safe than sorry...
But I'm glad to hear you still enjoy thebsun coming up in the mornings👍🏻

Moves with tides one cannot believe the municipality readings that are not done daily.

Sea is full of white horses today definitely not one for the beach !LOLZ

There is very little that we can believe these days...😅

Some positive change happening, perhaps more to come. Problem is much has been neglected for very long time.

The colour of the sun that it's growing it's amazing what shades of red💓

Thank you for your feedback, @noemilunastorta! I do appreciate it👍!

Wow... Those first two photos are amazing! They look like AI-generated, SciFi wallpapers... 😃 I like sunrises, but I'm too lazy to get up early to enjoy them more often... Maybe if I could go to bed before 2 AM, I would be more keen to get up early... 😃

Thanks for sharing these great photos! Those were fantastic walks!

Thank you for your encouraging feedback, @ph1102! It is highly appreciated!

Wow! I don't think getting up to capture sunrises would be easy if you only got to bed at 2 AM!

I'm glad you enjoyed my walks!

I've always considered myself to be a nocturnal person (not anymore as I now value night sleep), but past travels have made me appreciate the early mornings as well. These are really lovely experiences. I enjoyed taking these walks like I was there too. LOL! Hope you are all well. Happy weekend!
