Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. I would love to dive into today's topic, which is "Cyber security," but first I would love to define what cyber security means.

Definition of Cyber Security

To my own understanding, cyber security refers to the protection of our systems, networks, and any other programmes from any fraud or scammer attack. So let's dive into the topic.

Cyber security is very important and we need to know how to protect our information details, though not everyone have the knowledge about how to protect their information details, although I have never experienced or been a victim of cyber security failure before.

That made me remember what happened to one of my friends sister who was a victim of it. I don't know what led to her telling us about how her sister was scammed by a scammer; she said her sister was a lover of shopping online and that any little things she wanted to buy she would shop them online.

One faithful day she was at home when she received an email from the site she used to shop online that they were giving people discounts on any things they bought. She was happy and excited that she clicked on the link given to her without reading it properly, and she entered all her details, including her credit card information, but unknowingly to her, the person that sent the link was a fraud, including the website. We all know that some people love to fake a website just to scam people.

A few days later, she noticed that they were deducting money from her bank, and she was confused and was thinking maybe it's her siblings, so she went to meet them and asked, who among them was deducting money from her bank. All her siblings said they don't know what she's talking about. The next day she went to the bank to file complaints, and the bank people asked maybe she didn't link out her information details to anyone, after thinking deeply and remembered who she gave her details to.

The bank people have to check her phone, and that's when they discovered it's a fake website, and the person deducting her money was a fraud.

They have to freeze her account to prevent the person from deducting money from her back again, and that's when she discovered she had been tricked by the person who gave her fake website.

After she was done telling us I was surprised that despite the fact technology is rapidly taking over the word and people are aware of how they can secure their information details such thing can happened to her sister.

How did you get through that painful experience?

Like I said earlier, my friend's sister had to go to the bank and complain about how she's receiving several unauthorised transactions on her bank account.

What did it teach you about cyber security?

It taught me how important cyber security is for us and how it can protect and secure our details from any fraud or scammer attack. And I would love to mention some of the reasons why cyber security is important to us:

  • We must always be careful and always verify who's the person that sent us the link.

  • We should make sure that we add extra security to our information details so that it can prevent unauthorised access to our information.

  • We should make sure to keep a close eye on our bank account so that if anything is going on, we can detect the problem.

  • We must stop using passwords multiple times in any of our details in case if something happens, the scammers won't be able to detect our password.

By doing all these, we are safeguarding our information details.

This is my entry for the Hive Learners Featured Content Week 124 Edition 2.

Thanks for reading❤❤❤❤❤.
