Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. When it comes to pollution my immediate environment suffers from different types of pollution, we have noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution and many other types of pollution. Pollution in a layman's terms simply refers to the release of harmful substances either into the soil, water, air or environment. Once harmful substances are released into the environment, water or air thay are said to have been polluted by the harmful substance and can be hazardous to health for that reason we are advised to stay away from polluted environments.
In developed countries, the level of pollution is always monitored and they work so hard to reduce it to the nearest minimum but in countries like mine we have to deal with almost all the types of pollution every day of our lives. Down here if we are not dealing with noise pollution in the morning, then we will have to deal with it in the afternoon, and if we are not dealing with air pollution in the evening then be rest assured you will deal with it in the night, everyday is a battle, if you manage to escape one, there is no way you are escaping the other.
I live in a student environment but who would have thought that students environment would be the most noisiest environment, the apartment where I lived before almost all the occupants of the apartment owned generators and our power supply down here is unreliable and unstable which caused everyone to depend on their generators for power supply thereby making the whole environment noisy and causes one to lack the ability to focus, it was more annoying because there was no break, the moment a nextdoor neighbour turns off his gen the one opposite turns his own on, it was our everyday reality.
At a point we got used to the sounds and noise from generator such that if there is no sound of generator in the apartment everywhere feels strange and we start to ask questions like is everything okay? There is no way one could actually study in such an environment and I had to move out thinking things would be better because the day I paid for the new apartment there was no sign of generator anywhere, I moved in and I found out they bring the generator out when they want to turn it on and take it back in when they done.
The new apartment I moved into was even worse than the old one as the old one had a balcony where generators can be kept but in this new apartment they kept it in the passage making it even more noisier and most of this generator produced more smoke than normal making the environment even more uncomfortable as you left wondering what exactly is causing you discomfort, if it the smoke or the noise? Or is it both the Boise and the smoke? .
There are so many ways in which these two pollution can affect us:
sleep disturbance: No one can sleep comfortably in a noisy environment, from here you can picture living like this everyday from year to year, sometimes I leave my room to a friend's place just so I can have a sound sleep for sometime before I go back to my hell on earth.
Breathing problems: when the atmosphere is filled with smoke we fund it difficult to breath, when this is experienced consistently there is high chance of contacting a respiratory problem.
No, I don't see a solution to the problem even in the nearest future unless our power supply companies decided to do better which is impossible. We have complained to the landlord and caretaker that at least a generator house should be downstairs where everyone's generator will be in but all to no avail and we are forced to keep dealing with it or move out again which I don't want to before I move into something more worse than this.
Generators can pollute the environment and it is very annoying that the users might as nothing.
Thanks for stopping by.
You are welcome
I can totally get you. Students would turn on the generator and not turn it off but let it run out. And the sound is very annoying.
They don't even care if other students will want to read.
You actually jumped from frying pan to fire in this case, sorry man. Don't know what we can ever do about this generator problem expect to buy solar but it's very expensive
This is the best explanation for the situation, left somewhere better for the worse.
