I think I would not give my mobile to bikers also if I were in your place as I have trust issue. But I think it was normal to give your mobile to him as you didn't expect he would try to steal it. It's good to know that you got your smartphone back. I feel happy for it.
But but but, I think you should share how the company ignored the report of you.

      I appreciate your understanding. I didn’t expect the biker to try stealing my phone, but in the hot afternoon sun, sometimes our judgment can slip, like they say, the heat can make you lose your senses!
