Happy Sunday dear creative Hivers, feels good to make it to another creative Sunday edition, I hope you are all having a fun/relaxing weekend.
Today, I will be sharing with us another interesting sewing DIY I did just yesterday for my younger sister, a choir uniform shirt, in a cute baby pink color, choristers in the church are a unique group and always stand out among the congregation. In anticipation of the Christmas carol service coming on the third Sunday of this month, a pink color shirt was chosen this time as their uniform color.
I particularly like this color and the fabric chosen, a shirt crepe fabric, and know I had to design something unique out of it as it focusing on the ladies, this design would be the sample others will have to follow in making theirs. Observing their previous shirt styles, I noticed they are all button-downs with collars, so this has to look different.
Materials/Tools used
- Crepe Fabric
- matching colored thread
- sewing machine
Cutting And Sewing Process
- First, I started by drafting the front pattern with a V-neckline
- and also drafted the back pattern
- I cut out the facing which I used in turning the V neckline.
- Next, I joined the front and back by the shoulders
- And also cut out a long belt strip, which would in this case serve as the collar
- Continuing, I cut out the sleeves pattern with its cuffs and sewed it around the armholes.
- Finally, I joined the shirt by the sides and also hemmed the base.
And that completes the making process of this shirt, the collar would serve as a front tie design, and I also made a loop to hold the belts in place.
Presenting this design to the choir group, they loved it, it's meant for the ladies though, as the men will still have the same button-down shirt design.
