Hello! Welcome to my blog. In today's hivelearners episode, I will share a true story about how I got punished more than the culprit for breaking a RULE.

Well, the last rule I broke was about honesty(No late night outing). Back then, I was still living with my parents who believed in the importance of truthfulness.

They always emphasized that if any of us knew about someone doing something wrong, we should inform them. However, it's challenging to report others when you yourself are hiding a secret.

I had too much secrets of which my parents are not aware of, it's only known to those who caught me. So I will have to remain loyal to them in order not to get reported. They also have many secrets but I guess it keeps accumulating as we threatened to use what we know against each other.

It happened on a Friday night when my older brother approached me with a request. He wanted me to cover for him as he planned to attend his classmate's birthday party, who also happened to be his girlfriend. He assured me that he would be back before 10 pm and begged me not to lock the door, promising to make it up to me somehow.

I reluctantly agreed, and he left around 7:30 pm while our parents were in their room. Later that night, my mom called me and reminded me to lock the doors before going to bed. Since it was normal for everyone to be home, they didn't check each room individually. I assumed everything would go unnoticed.

For a while, I fought to stay awake, but fatigue took over, and I fell asleep. It wasn't until the next day that my brother returned home, long after everyone had woken up.

How my mother found out…
In the middle of the night, my mom woke me up and questioned why I had left the door open. I feigned forgetfulness, making up an excuse. However, as she continued her investigation, she realized my brother was missing from his bed. Inquiring about his whereabouts, I pretended not to have any information, suggesting he might have gone to use the restroom. But when my mom checked, she discovered the restroom door open and no one inside. Panic ensued as she raised the alarm and informed my dad. We all frantically searched for my brother, but he seemed to have vanished.

Throughout the night, my mom stayed awake, anxiously waiting for morning. As the new day dawned, my brother softly whispered my name through the window, while my mom stood nearby. Giving me a stern look, she instructed me to open the door for him.

After a serious discussion between my brother and my parents, my role as an accomplice was revealed, and both my brother and I faced severe punishment. I got punished twice because I lied over and over again! We were grounded for a month, a consequence that left a lasting impact.

I learnt a lesson in a hard way but didn't stay away from covering up for my siblings from time to time despite all I passed through just because I was afraid of being reported to our parents,the punishment would be worst than I can imagine but we became even more careful not to get caught, lolz!
