I would use myself as a case study. in my country Nigeria it's best to give her citizens all the information they need to know, this would make the leaders and president accountable for all the information they share with citizens.
Nigeria operates under a fundamental system of government where the government is of the people, by the people and for the people. This phase has indirectly influenced many countries including Nigerians by Abraham Lincoln.
A.Government of the people means a citizen can be a leader in the government
B.Government by the people means the government leader is chosen by the citizens ***
C.Government for the people means the government's main goal is to serve its citizens. it ensures that government policies benefit its citizen, and protect their rights and well-being.***
The citizens of Nigeria have the right to know everything that goes on in their country.
DISADVANTAGES OF THE RIGHT TO KNOW EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON IN THE COUNTRY
When the right information is absorbed wrongly it could be devastating thereby causing unnecessary issues and problems for the country.
there is information regarding national security, economic crises is best kept confidential to protect the citizens and country. When the trust of a country is lost it may take a new leadership to regain the trust of the citizens and when top government information is out to citizens it could get into the hands of foreign countries which could be used against her own country.
CONCLUSION
It is better if the people only know what they need to know so that peace will reign in the country and amongst its citizens.
As a citizen of Nigeria by birth and having lived in my country for over three decades, the government should respect citizens' right to information while the government protect their well-being and keeping confidential information with them.

Even though it will be hard for citizens not to know about a lot of things that is happening in the country, it's best to limit just how far an information will go especially the wrong and unsettling ones.
