Newbies Task 8 - Recounting

in Hive Learners2 months ago (edited)

The journey of a thousand miles they say begins with a step and with this parable, I say congratulations to us Newbies we had a good run, we came, we saw, and we conquered!!!

My foremost gratitude goes to our amiable mommy of hive @nkemakonam89… I hope I got the tag right this time, lol.

Anyhoo.... here's a brief story of how I was fortunate to be part of the initiative.

During one of the connect and earn podcasts hosted by @starstrings01 on 𝕏, usually on Wednesdays, I listened to Nkem talk about PeakD and dApp in general.

I was really fascinated with all the information she was dishing out. I got confused with some and asked questions.

Seeing how interested I was, she messaged me on discord and informed me of the Newbie initiative coming up if I will be interested, as it would be a great opportunity to learn about all what she talked about and more.

I indicated interest, and she said she'll notify me once the show commenced. Ladies and gentlemen, could you believe it that I had even forgotten?, but mommy Nkem followed me bumper to bumper and made sure I was part of the initiatives.

It's like she knows my kind of person lol, if you don't police me on something, I lose interest, and she did a really amazing job being my motivator for which I am deeply grateful ma, God bless you abundantly and your own no go loss ma.

Recounting....

These past 8 weeks on the initiative have been nothing short of a wonderful experience. I learned, I gained knowledge, and I made connections.

The most intriguing part for me about this initiative was when they asked us to elaborate on goals and then set our goals. We discussed smart goals and what makes a goal smart, and then it's expected we set our goals realistically, which makes it smart but not me lol.

Even Nkem was shocked when she saw my goals because haba you want to run faster than your shadows?

So here's the deal for me, personal I aim really high, my target needs to scare me. Otherwise, I won't feel that I am doing anything serious.

At the time of this initiative, I was at 600 and something HP, so I set my HP goal to be 2000HP at the end of the initiative. Was it a smart goal? No, it wasn't, but it was a challenge to achieve my target, which was half of my goal and guess what guys?

I did achieve my target, and I am so proud of me.

For my followers, I didn't get half of my goal so I didn't achieve my target on that. Out of 200 followers goal, I got 82 folllowers. Started the initiative with almost 70 followers and ended with 82 followers.

Another plus for me on this initiative is that I became a small pro using Canva. My first shot at Canva was really frustrating, as it took me almost the whole day to achieve a design.

Today, I am designing and achieving what I want in minutes.

In these 8 weeks, I learned about the importance of consistency, I got immerse in the spirit of hive and gained knowledge of what eluded me for the past 5 months of joining hive.

I really have no contributions for any improvement with the way things ran during the initiative. The organisers did exceedingly well.

This initiative has been a great investment of my time and I had a good run. Sadly for every beginning, there's an end. Thus, I draw the curtains at this point.

To my fellow Newbies, I say cheers and welcome to a new dispensation 🥂
