We Win Sometimes

The reason why the slang, "Life no balance" has become part of our usual talk in this part of the world where I come from is because of issues like this. Most of the time, our efforts never comemmorate with our results. Most people do more at the end of the day receive less for it. Some do so little and are greatly rewarded while few others get to enjoy where they have never laboured.

It happens a lot and we have all had our fair share of it. Sometimes, it just don't work out as planned and some other times, it does and we are happy. I have worked hard on stuff before and I was disappointed to the extent that I almost got depressed. A lot of other times also, I have put my mind to things, worked hard at it and planned well for it and it was a success. Let me share one of such experience with you.

So, after graduation and national youth service. I relocated from my state to Lagos state for a greener pasture and because of my fiancee then. Immediately I settled, I got a job and I started working but it was not to my taste. I wanted something better than that, so I started looking, asking questions, applying for jobs online and doing all sorts just to get a better job. I attended many interviews and I turned down some offer when I discovered they made no sense but I kept searching.

I saw an advert online about a school in the heart of town which was a very big deal for me. It was perfect according to what I wanted. I tried to apply immediately but I discovered that the application had already closed. I felt bad but I continued researching about the school and finding out all I could about it. Everything I saw about the school, made me love the school more and I didn't give up.

Not long after that, I saw their advert for a graduate trainee program which would last for just a year. I applied and continued to research about the school until I discovered what they wanted. Their goals, aims, and objectives. I got an invite for the examination which will determine if I would be invited for an interview. I studied for the examination as if my life depended on it. I read, and made research and I succeeded in the examination.

The few of us that passed the exam had another examination and I still passed. I was so happy. We were invited for the interview and this is where all my hard work researching payed off. It was a group interview and I was the star girl. I had an idea of every question asked based on the research I had made about them.

I got my appointment letter the next week as I resumed immediately. It was one of the times when I worked hard for something and got the results I wanted. I was glad and it really boost my morale because it was the time in my life when I needed to believe more in myself and had to be more responsible. So, it really helped me boost my confidence. Since then, I have always been bold to face any interviewer or any panel for a job.
