We receive information about our surroundings and the world in many ways. Nowadays media is in front of us as an emerging industry and if we look, we have many types of news sources available to us. There was a time when people had to wait for a particular time to listen to news, like when news was broadcast on radio, people were able to listen to it at that time, after that the second option people had was newspapers which used to come to people every morning. Till date, things have improved so much that you can get information about the news that happened just 5 minutes ago on your mobile phone itself, you do not need to listen to any news channel broadcast or read any newspaper, today everything is in your hands.
The biggest question is whether you get as much genuine information today as you used to get earlier or do these news channels add spicy news in the news for their marketing or to increase their TRP. If we look at this thing as a business model, then you will see that the income of news channels is through advertisements running in it and advertisements keep running after every 10 minutes of news and nowadays, along with the news, ads also keep running in a small space below. Now any company will give ads to a news channel only if its TRP is good. To increase their TRP, news channels sometimes publish such news which will be of no use to a common man.
You have seen that nowadays news channels publish news 24 hours a day and if you look at this thing closely, then they twist the same news and present it to you in many ways. Even if they get any small information, they present it to you in 10 ways and what I do not understand is that when their job is to give point to point information to the public, then why to show the same information in 10 ways, this is completely a marketing technique.
I still remember that when I was in school, we did not have cable network, so we used to watch a free channel provided by the government called Doordarshan. There were many types of family shows on Doordarshan and if we talk about news channels, news was shown three times a day, once in the morning, then again in the afternoon and the last time in the evening. The best thing I liked about this was that whatever main news was shown point to point, no additional things were added to it, so that only what the public wanted to hear was told to them. We can say that absolutely general information reached us. But then after that many more types of news channels started coming and people started seeing news channels as a business.
Even now, if I have to watch news, I watch it only on the channel run by the government because first of all there are no useless ads in it and the second thing I like here is that a lot of information is given to you in a very short time. Many times I also listen to news with the help of online radio, in which you get point to point information and your time is also saved because there are no unnecessary advertisements of any kind and no one presents the news in 10 distorted ways and the biggest thing here is that we can say that the information we get is genuine.
Nowadays I have seen that many types of news channel groups have been formed on Whatsapp and in these news channels you get to see local news of your area, so I found it a very good thing in the beginning. Then when this thing started reaching a lot of people, then the websites of these local Whatsapp group news channels started generating various types of ad revenue and on the websites, you will get to see very little news and mostly ads. When I click on any news, I get to see advertisements there. Even if I click somewhere by mistake, I am directly redirected to the page related to that ad.

I believe that advertisement is the source of income for news channels but they should not stoop so low in their greed for money that they waste people's time and people keep seeing ads most of the time. Journalism has been called the fourth pillar of democracy but I don't think this is true now because it has been seen many times that the ruling party does not allow any kind of news to be published against itself so that its image remains bad in front of the public. In such a situation, friends, there are also those news channels which start following the instructions of a particular party when they get greedy, whereas any news channel should be impartial and present the true facts in front of the public so that the public also has the right information about all the things happening in this politics.
The way news channels are luring people as a business these days, somewhere you people have come to believe that these news channels are not giving us genuine information. The biggest thing in this is that if a small journalist is bringing forward such a truth which is being hidden by these news reporters, then it is seen that the voice of that journalist is suppressed and sometimes something worse than this happens. Nowadays people even take someone's life just because of a news. Here is the bitterest truth which is very difficult to believe but it has been seen many times.
I do not believe every news because I have seen it myself many times that these people write a lot of things in the headline which makes a person want to go to its bottom but one has to read it completely and then when one cross checks it, then in reality that news is nothing, it is just a way to attract people towards you.
You can see the best example of this in social media. To promote their pages, people often share such news which is completely false but people pay attention to it because they find it interesting and it is presented to the people in a very interesting way.
Write something in a big headline which is trending but if you go to the bottom of the news, you will not find anything, only your time will be wasted otherwise nothing. There was a time when trending news used to be on the front page of the newspaper but now the whole newspaper is filled with advertisements and such a big advertisement comes on the front page that there is no space left for news. Someone told me that if you cannot read the whole newspaper then at least read the front page, from this you get information about the important events happening in the country, but nowadays you only get to see big ads, the news story is hidden in a small corner.
