St.Petersburg in monochromes - 10 photos from December

in PhotoFeedyesterday (edited)

I looked through my latest photos from a walk around the city in Christmas time and chose a dozen to process and have some Photoshop fun. The results are below. (This time I attach no original colour versions, pure monochrome as it is).

The cast-iron yard grate is being transformed behind my camera. The recipe for a successful photo is easy, consider you have the following elements : night / lamps lighting, long exposure (with or without tripod), fresh sticky wet snow - and of course, monochrome conversion. (I will not claim this was "the most ordinary lattice grate", no - it was unusual, patterned, forged. But still).

Two cellists play for passers-by in a dark and nasty tunnel under the street. A powerful means of ennobling space!

The entrance to an ordinary residential courtyard... took on an unusual appearance on the occasion of Christmas - all the passers-by stopped, came in to check, and every second one took a photo! Beauty attracts the folks, our hearts are still drawn to it :)))))

Same spot at the skating-ring. A fabulous eye contact! Well, kind of ;)

Some great captures. Amazing how black and white changes everything you might imagine from the photos. Like a different world.

Blizzard and the gate are my favorite. Great set!

Gates was my fave too. (And the Gogol monument as well). Thanks for compliment!

Awesome captures in monochrome of the city and its people 😎
Thanks for sharing.
Have a fantastic day 😊
!PIZZA with some !LUV

Grazie. Our snow already melted into water, festive mood gone away, and no desire to go out, heh. But I have !PIZZA now, thanki 😜 😜 😜

You are welcome 🤗
A shame it melted. Here we have right now about 35 cm of snow around the cabin, in some places up to a meter. We get more this weekend ☃️

I can imagine… it changes the view and mood.
Have a lovely evening.
