White in November

in FungiFriday10 days ago

Back in the days (damn, that stung, am I getting old?) November was a month when you could expect snow from the start. At the very least my memories of All Soul's Days from decades ago include wet snow or somberness and freezing rain. This year is pretty unusual, although it fits in the trend from recent years, just more - while it is colder and it is darker (mostly due to switch to Winter Time), the weather is still great, more fitting for October. It is entirely possible that new mushrooms are still growing, but now they are quickly hidden under the thick layer of falling leaves. What still sticks out are either those that grow on trees or very big and old specimens.

This is my contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw.

Since there is no snow I had to substitute with - who would have guessed - white mushrooms. No more talk - enjoy :o)

And finally my favorite of this set. From afar it only looks like white crust on tree stump, but up close the structure and contrast between white fungus and green moss is amazing.

Bonus - white piece of chert stone with moss hat. I'll take it to the garden on a later date :o)

Sadly this is most likely the last post with freshly photographed mushrooms this year.

Even though I'm not used to snow just yet, I get that nostalgic vibe you're describing. It’s amazing how the little things in nature, like mushrooms and moss, can remind us of how much things are changing year by year.

Good afternoon and best wishes to you🤗♥️

As usual, I am very entertained by the mushrooms you share.

The white mushrooms and green moss are the most beautiful, it looks very spectacular, it's really amazing ♥️♥️
