Warhammer 40k - Airbrush the Horde of Wolves!

in Proof of Brainlast month

Hello everyone! Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa.

This is my infantry addition to my Space Wolf Great Company, used to play the tabletop game, Warhammer 40,000.

Painting this many models by hand would take forever my friend @xenowolfza and I have been planning this Spray-Day for a long time coming now where were would air-brush the main colours onto the Marines!

So I loaded up my army and head over to his place!

The first step was to give all the models a base layer of black from a spray can.

There is Marnus, aka @xenowolfza hitting the troops with a bit of black.

We left them to dry a bit and had a drink and chatted before coming back.

The compressor and air gun was set up with a very dark blue to base the armor.

After the first few and a quick crash course on how to get it done, I grabbed myself a chair and got stuck in spraying all of them.

Here is the airbrush nozzle and the paint colour. A bit of water and a spacial solution is added to make the paint very runny.

This is how they started looking after this pass in colours. You pick a mini up and spray it, moving the miniature and not really the airgun.

Look at that epicness! 💪💪💪🐺🐺🐺

Marnus took some quick photos of me during this process because he knew by now that I was going to make a Hive post about this! Hahaha!

So off I went, focussing on what I was doing.

Though, I needed to point out how cool this guy's axe came out. It was built up from fantasy Dwarf axes!

More and more units got done. I needed to stop while Marnus mixed more paint.

And sure enough, finally, the whole batch was sprayed this dark blue colour. We took a break and had some lunch and let the pigment dry.

We came back and Marnus mixed up a lighter blue, this one was Shadow Grey/Wolf Grey.

Marnus did this part as he has a lot more experience with the airbrush and the goal of this paint job was important to get DONE.

Working one by one these models were given a strong highlight from above.

Maximum focus from @xenowolfza here!

A finally highlight of a light pale blue-grey was mixed and this was prayed over each model very lightly without picking them up and with all the models on the board. This is to highlight natural light coming from above.

Spraying with the lid open can cause a mess! Thankfully nothing landed on the models! Haha!

When this was complete, we chatted for a bit and let the models dry so I could pack away and transport them.

I just love looking at this army. There is so many conversions and kitbashing and character in the army. The most basic looking are the ones with the flamers but this was alright. There are over 100 Space Wolves and plenty customization!

They Barely fit into this beer box tray!

Arrayed in their Packs with the leaders that are intended to lead them into battle this is what it looks like:

90x Blood Claws
10x Long Fangs
7x Characters

My painting of this army is not done though. I still need to paint in all the details of each model. There is still a lot to do!

Thank you for reading this post!

Cheers!
