One year here, one kind of tree, just dropped all of it's leaves at one time for some unknown reason. You would see it among the other trees who did their normal thing, turn a nice color, then drop off and become brown naturally on the ground. It was pretty weird. But.... I know that is not what you are talking about.
First you have to take the broom and brush all the cobwebs down. Then you need to put more art all over the walls, at least one wall, bright and cheerful things.
You have some paints don't you? I know you have not shown it as your thing, but you could learn collage. It can be made by painting random papers, trash papers, found tickets on the ground.... anything, then you create something on some background, paint them up with random designs or solids and put them on..... cardboard?... or whatever else you find. Take bits and make a scene or a still life or an abstract. Part of the fun would be finding things. If you have paints already, all you need is a leftover box and a glue stick. Glue sticks are cheap. I know, I know, who am I to tell you what to do, but sometimes getting your mind focused on something else is good and you could gather bits as you walk.
I think they just gave up !
I'm not handling this well. My apartment is unbearable.
