The word of God exerts power.

Communication is a two way process. You speak and you listen. If only one person is talking then that is not considered as communication. There must be a speaker and a listener for an active communication to take place. Similarly, we communicate with God through prayer and he communicates with us through his word the Bible.

The bible is described as having power. It is likened to a two edged sword that is capable of divining into the the heart and soul. That means that if used right, we can use the to examine ourselves and make our lives better. This word of God is always there for our own benefit. It contains laws and principles in which if we try our best to follow them judiciously, we will benefit ourselves in the long run.

So how can you make the most out of your bible reading?

First of all, set aside time to read everyday. It can be in the morning or evening, but don’t let a day go by without being filled with the wisdom from the Bible.

Secondly, meditate on what you have read. Pause while you are reading and ask yourself, what are the lessons I can learn from this account? How can I apply these lessons in my life? Meditating on these will help you to not just read the Bible, but study it and gain maximally from what you have studied.

Finally, do well to share what you have learnt with others. Whenever you teach others you are strengthening and improving your own knowledge. So the more you teach others to understand the Bible the more your own understanding is refreshed and well grounded.

All the things that have been written down in the Bible are for our own very benefits, so when we take the time to study it thoroughly we are showing appreciation to the author of the Bible. It will also help us to live a wholesome life that is pleasing to the almighty.
