Monomad - Secret corners

in Black And White2 months ago

Hello Hive friends, today I am presenting a few landscapes from Slovenia. Sometimes it happens you are discovering a small country, like Slovenia. However, when you start to discover its secret corners you might be surprised how many of them are there and how beautiful scenery can be. I will write a few words about the scenery and hope you will enjoy this gallery.

This is a small town called Piran. Piran's history dates back to the early Iron Age, with the first notable settlement established by the Illyrians. Over centuries, it was influenced by various cultures and empires, including the Romans and the Byzantines. However, its most significant development occurred under Venetian rule from the 13th to the 18th century. This period left a lasting mark on Piran's architecture and cultural landscape, as evidenced by the town's Venetian Gothic buildings. What I like the most are its narrow streets full of secret shops and cafes.

The Julian Alps are amazing scenery, for sure. This place is near Vršič, from where you have many hiking options. What I like the most is this transition from a woodland area to a rocky area. Don't be surprised to see sheep or goats here around :)

This is the Russian Chapel which was built to honor the memory of Russian prisoners of war who died during the construction of a military road over the Vršič Pass. During World War I, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which then included Slovenia, utilized Russian POWs to build the road to supply their front lines. The harsh alpine conditions, combined with the inadequate equipment and frequent avalanches, resulted in many deaths. A particularly devastating avalanche in March 1916 claimed the lives of approximately 300 Russian soldiers.

This is Lake Jasna, a picturesque alpine lake located near the town of Kranjska Gora in northwestern Slovenia. Known for its crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop, Lake Jasna is a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking natural beauty and outdoor activities. Of course, I was skipping those stones :)

Another one. That wooden textures are outstanding.

Bela Krajina is a region in southeastern Slovenia known for its unique cultural heritage, picturesque landscapes, and extensive woodlands. This area, characterized by rolling hills, karst fields, and dense forests, offers a tranquil escape into nature and a glimpse into traditional Slovenian rural life. There are some great woodland areas, especially due to birch with its white trunks.
