My girlfriend and I were driving around Texas when we came upon a public park in the middle of a cul-de-sac. After confirming it was indeed a public park, because enforcing private property is a real thing down here, we decided to do some exploring. Of course I brought my camera with me and I had the 135 mm lens with me as well. At first i was taking standard pictures of the scenery, the nature, the birds, the flowers, the various structures and then we all of a sudden came across a group of ducks crossing the road.
The ducks varied in color, and levels of mud, and as we follow them we came across a little farm filled with goats, chickens and turkeys. Conveniently located next to the farm was a quarter feeding machine giving you a handful of corn or mixed animal feed to give the animals by hand.
The goats and chickens loved it, the turkeys came around after everyone else got the pickings but they eventually got their fill. I want to say this is my first time experiencing goats and what I noticed was the older do not like sharing their food or any food for that matter.
The bigger goat always head butted or attempted to shove the smaller goat out the way in order to get the most food. Even distracting the bigger goats did not always guarantee that the smaller, younger goat got some food. In fact it took some scheming to make sure that one of the largest goats on the farm didn’t massacre a baby goat while attempting to eat food through the fence.
Luckily no blood was shed while my girlfriend and I were in attendance.
It was very heartwarming to witness the mother chicken care for her young chicks it was also very nice to see the baby goat getting some milk from the mother goat.
What made this surprise trip even better was that I captured it all on camera in beautiful #blackandwhite for the #hive
