monomad challenge: November sunset by the sea

in Black And Whitelast month (edited)

recently we have had a few days of unseasonal clear and calm weather. it's a great opportunity for an evening walk so i headed past the dock and made my way to the park.

there's an exhibition of four old wooden rowboats erected in the park when you approach the boats it triggers a sound system with speakers in the boats. it's a thrill to hear it again becuse it was out of order for some years. the sounds are a wonderful mix of a bygone maritime milieu

the old ship's crane for loading and unloading boats at dock

past the old wooden wharves and barracks the park is an open expanse with the gunpowder house at a safe distance just in case. the road leads to a beach at the southern end of the park
.

before i got that far the last rays of the evening were highlighting the lighthouse on the island about 1 km away across the sound. the zoom on my phone is good but i didn't have a tripod. i know high zoom, slow speed shots in the low light weren't going to be perfect. i am taking a chance posting a couple here because i feel the ambience of the shots allows for some reduced clarity

the waxing moon was already above the island with the lookout on top of the hill

a pair of lampposts form the portal to the beach and the peninsula beyond

the dramatic sky was a sight to behold

the pyramid is a monument to the seamen who lost their lives in the two world wars. the list of names inside includes every Norwegian who died at sea it also includes every known name of persons who died in Norwegian waters or on Norwegian ships, regardless of nationality. it's a long list.

such a lovely evening will help to get through the more seasonal gray windy days to come

it's only 16.45 but it's already dark. so good night

i took all these shots with my S22 phone. it was an especially fine evening so i took many photos, some with only minor differences. none of the above photos have been previously posted as color photos but at first glance a few may appear quite similar
