Monomad Challenge - JC

Test shot

JC is the partner of Lydia, a model I work with quite often, and he is also a really decent photographer in his own right. They both came to a friend's studio to do a dance themed shoot (you can see some of the shots here). Before the actual shoot I wanted to take a few test shots with JC on his own.

A strong pose

I wanted to try different lighting set ups bot with JC on his own and then for the main part of the shoot with Lydia. JC and Lydia are very much contrasting individuals. Lydia, being a natural redhead, is very pale skinned, and JC is very dark, so I knew the lighting was going to be interesting to get the balance right when shooting them both together.

We had fun doing these shots, I thought I was going to be a little self-conscious as JC is such a very talented photographer. but, as I guess most photographers reading this will agree, pnce you get in the zone, all doubts and possible worries go out of the window as you focus (no pun intended) on the shot in hand.

It turned out we had a lot of fun. And, as is always the case when photographers get together you end up frittering away time chatting about kit, lighting, preference in styles, influences. All in all the test shoot went so fast, with all the chat, but at least I managed to get some shots that are possibly worthy of sharing.
