Dana Lut Tawar has many spots to visit so that tourists never get bored. On the edge of the freshwater lake located about 1,100 meters above sea level, there are many camping areas that are the choice of many visitors. I have tried many places, but this is the first time in Mendale.

Mendale Camp is located not far from Takengon City, the capital of Central Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia. By car, it is only about 20 minutes across small roads with cliffs and ravines on both sides. So, be careful driving a car or motorbike. The narrow roads are made even more difficult by sharp turns. During the rainy season from September to December, the roads in Takengon are prone to landslides.

From Takengon City, Mendali campsite is located on the right side. Visitors must go down a steep road to park their cars in the campsite area. When we visited there in large numbers, there were at least 50 cars, less than half of which could be accommodated in the parking lot. Other options are on the side of the narrow road and in an empty area directed by the campsite manager.

The weather in Takengon is very cold for Indonesians. With temperatures reaching 15 degrees at night during the rainy season, visitors must wear jackets, especially that night it rained so many visitors wore thick jackets to warm their bodies.

I photographed several objects in Mendale, especially friends using gadgets. The results were not as good as when using an SLR camera. Some photos at night looked less sharp.

For objects photographed at night, special settings are needed because the objects can be seen clearly. Even so, I am not satisfied with the results because there are several objects that look as beautiful as their original colors. Or is this because of the ability to photograph, I do not know for sure.[]

The atmosphere of Takengon in the rainy season is very challenging, I think, enjoying the piercing breeze from Lake Laut Ut Tawar.
