People do not have common sense when it comes to nature and how dangerous it can be. Currents are seriously dangerous and you just do not swim at any spot before watching the current patterns. Maybe we have been raised by the coast and just know these thigs.

I wasn't necessarily raised by the coast but I did learn how to swim as a kid. I think that this lack of respect for nature and the subsequent death toll would be like me just deciding to solo climb a cliff face without any protective gear just because I saw someone else doing it. Common sense just doesn't seem to exist for everyone.
I agree commo sense ha to kick in or you will expect a not o happy ending. We used to have a divers pontoon for when the local river flooded and 3 of us went for a 10km river ride. Madness now thinking about this, but it was good fun.
