It has been a little over a month since my last post about my sustainable soil bag garden and I must say that this garden keeps surprising me day after day. In the first post, I shared with the community the onset of soil bag garden and after that, I basically kept watching to see what would go wrong or not.

The idea of a soil bag garden still seems very new to me even when I have one of such gardens in my house and this could be due to the fact that I am still trying to accommodate the fact that with the right amount of care and nutrients, plants could grow in bags too!

A few weeks after planting some potatoes, the leaves started sprouting but they didn't look so good. It looked like bugs were already feeding on the leaves and for some reason, I felt that the potatoes weren't going to make it for so long. Yet, I didn't neglect them. Luckily, we are in the rainy season and although it may not be the best season for many humans, it is certainly the best season for plants.

After

Slowly and steadily, the resilient potatoes kept sprouting and along the line, It looked like all the holes vanished(at least a majority of them) and I didnt even have a hand in that(* talk about surprises*). I say this because I didn't use any form of pesticide on the plant. So my guesses are; It is either the bugs were tired of feasting on the potato leaves or the potatoes found a way to fight them off and judging from the fact that these potatoes were planted by me, I would go with the latter:)

Apart from the potatoes that had a major comeback, the rest of the plants are still blooming beautifully.

Just a few days after my first post, I planted some yam seeds just for experiment and I just love how far the yam has come.

It took less than two weeks for the first sprout to appear and since then the growth has just been exponential.

My pumpkin leaves and the rest of the vegetables are doing pretty well too. I even got a few leaves to prepare a pot of rice today and I must confess that nothing beats fresh vegetables harvested from one's garden.

The herbs appear to be doing okay as well.

Also , I added a row of pepper plants planted in plastic bottles to my garden collection. I like eating spicy meals on good days and it would be a dream come true if all the pepper plants sprout and bear fruits as it would save cost. I made a post on the steps I took in making the plastic bottle garden and you could check it out here if you would love to know more.

This brings me to the end of my garden journal for the month. I hope to be reaping a few more fruits of my labour soon enough:)

@wongi, you are most welcome!

Your pumpkin leaves are looking very healthy
Glad your potatoes are growing very well now

I'm glad they are too dear.

Thank you for stopping by ✨

You're welcome 🤗

I have also thought about using planting potatoes like this, I don't have a big plot, and the land is compact, so it would be ideal for me to use your method.

I am struck by the peppers. Since yesterday I am weighing on how to place plastic bottles to plant plants, and yours might be an interesting idea.

The plastic bottles serve as a good nursery for the pepper plants. When they are big enough, I would be transplanting them✨
