Our daily activities are coffee farmers in the countryside

in HiveGarden2 days ago

Hello everyone

A few days ago, I had a chance to post about several types of plants that we work on as farmers or farm laborers in inland villages, of course in the morning today I and my family want to share a little experience of our activities and our daily lives that we spend together, there are some reviews that I want to share with my hive Garden friends and friends who like to farm or garden wherever they are, In my article today still with the same topic about the types of coffee plants and I would like to show you some processes from start to finish about grinding robusta coffee beans and some other types of plants that are damaged in the fall.

A few days ago, our coffee plantation began to appear coffee flower powders on almost every tree, m of course this is good news for us, after we did the treatment in August last year finally in early December the coffee flowers began to appear, but behind the fun for us there is of course anxiety that we have to face, because lately the weather in our area has been very bad, With very, very bad weather conditions, of course we are a little worried about whether the flowers of this coffee plant will survive as fruits or fall off, indeed we cannot deny that towards the end of the year the weather in our village is changeable, we farmers here only hope that the flowers that are blooming on our coffee plants can survive until they become dense fruits so that we can survive.

Here are some of our coffee bean sacks that we have picked for a few weeks, and we place them in the yard of the house, it should be after we pick these coffee beans immediately ground so that we can dry them, but lately the sun is not visible from morning to late afternoon, there are several factors that spoil the taste of coffee if these beans are stored in the sack for too long, The color of the skin will change so that on the beans begin to appear fungi that spoil the taste of coffee beans, what is our power, inevitably risks like this when entering December we have often faced.

After ten days we kept it in a sack, it happened that tomorrow there was a sun that looked bright, of course we didn't waste any more to dry it immediately, the drying process of our habit on the ground floor we used several tarpaulin pits of five meters in one pic for freshly ground coffee bean drying kemi, in a tarpaulin size of five square meters of course it takes about 7 buckets, this is not too thick and not too thin. several sacks on the tarpaulin before the grinding process.while waiting for the grinder to come, it is our habit to work harder we put our own sacks filled with these round coffee beans.

After we waited for a few minutes, finally our coffee bean grinder came, and you can see how we processed these round coffee beans until they were split in half using a very simple but satisfying machine, we did this kind of work for generations from our ancestors, but in the past our grandmothers didn't have to pay for it because the work system used to be that they took turns taking care of the coffee plant, but now because the world is sophisticated we have to pay per embar for Rp 1500 or $ 0.1 indeed not too expensive, our round coffee beans when put into the machine box can be seen some of them are starting to grow mold due to too much time we store them in the sack, fortunately the sun is starting to appear, if we can't dry it in a few more days maybe these coffee beans will rot so we don't have anything else, large losses.

This is an example of robusta coffee beans that are picked, we mostly pick red beans and only yellow ones, so if we quote like the example below, then in addition to us being faster for the next quotation process, of course, if we quote it like the previous weight of the kg in the sack is very good, don't be surprised that in one bucket the weight of 13 kg of coffee beans that have not been processed if it has been dried will be 3.5 kg of coffee beans dried in one bucket, of course in this way it is very profitable for farmers here, in our district there are very few farmers who pick coffee beans that are still green, because it will be very detrimental to collect them in such a way.

One day after the grinding process, it starts to look a little bit of the basic color has begun to change, indeed after we grind the weather is hot, of course it will be very good for these coffee beans to dry the moisture content on the coffee bean skin, for a faster process we often flip the tarpaulin left and right so that the moisture content that is still wet in the coffee beans will dry faster.

As you can see in some of these tarpaulins, the coffee bean skins have begun to cone, which means that our coffee beans are drying well, we are just waiting for two or three more days to dry, indeed lately the process of drying coffee beans can take a week or seven days because the weather often rains, but if the sun is hot we only need three days for the drying process.

After a long process, finally our coffee beans began to dry and we began to put them in sacks for the next process, my brothers and sisters started working in the middle of broad daylight so that these coffee beans when put into the sacks still felt hot steam so that they could reduce the humidity a little because in the tropics where we live the humidity can reach 100% every day, So we can't help but put these dried coffee beans in the sack when the sun is still hot and hot, we also use a tool made of wood to increase the weight of the coffee beans that are already in the sack.

I took a small sample of coffee beans that had peeled off for us to make some of them for coffee powder, because our family is classified as people who like to drink coffee, even though the weather is not good, but I am still grateful that our coffee beans have no problems.

In addition to coffee beans which have a great impact if the weather is extreme, of course there are several types of young plants such as one of our lemon plants that I planted in the front yard of the house, some of our lemon seeds also began to be affected by pests from fruit rot insects, of course if it has happened like this this lemon seeds will rot and can no longer be used.

Because the market is too far from where we live, we took the initiative to plant several other types of vegetables for our daily kitchen needs for consumption such as leeks, celery leaves and turmeric plants, and there are some of our vegetables that are also damaged due to extreme weather.

A few days ago I had posted about a large chili plant that we planted and the result was like this, almost all the fruits were severely damaged because we couldn't overcome them, all of this we have borne ourselves, indeed we are used to it when planting chili plants, there are times when it is good, sometimes it is damaged, it is a natural factor, hopefully in the future it will be much better.

That is really interesting to see. I cannot grow coffee where I live.

Thank you very much my brothers @solominer, I am very happy to take care of them even though I have to work extra, by the way why in your area you can't grow coffee, is the temperature not suitable or is there something else that is not possible for coffee plants?
