
Just found this caterpillar in my garden (UK). It's big, the size of my little finger. Friend or foe? (I don't want to get rid unless it's really really bad!).
Update: my husband managed to identify it on his phone, apparently it's a Privet Hawk Moth. It seems to like my Spirea, as we don't have any privet for it to munch on .


Must be the time for it I have an infestation of caterbillers in my cabbage patch but have managed to save 4. Think rest I might leave for them to finish off as badly eaten already
