It became clear to me that there were forces at work to keep me from becoming too powerful and expanding my reach to other regions of the planet. It also became quite clear that for some reason many powerful individuals on this planet wanted to help me succeed in growing in power. I have no idea what their motives are but for the time being, I have no choice but to play along with them.

more fights.jpg

I’ve been out exploring deep to the south and then I headed back to exploring some of the east while making a circle back to my base. By the time I arrive there, I'm down to just a couple of units capable of putting up a fight left.

An unwanted guest shows up named Perfect Life Form. He wanted to challenge me. Needless to say, I had zero ability to do so. I ended up declining and was told I could always find him deep in the woods to the north-west.

After that experience with how powerful he looked. The last thing on my mind was to go find him again. So, I went everywhere put to his location. I had many fights all of which I one.

It just so happened I wanted to go explore the northwest area of the map. I decided to stop by and see what kind of trouble speaking with the Perfect Life Form would cause. He ended up telling me a story about giant sky spiders!

He also went on and on about needing to launch my satellite and some other stuff as well. I don’t have the slightest idea how about doing such a thing. It appears I need to search around and find more information. The alien planet is hiding secrets and going to great lengths to keep me from them.

I then ended up going all the way down south. There was this massive river that cut across most of the bottom section of the map. I thought for sure that must be the end of the map. While searching along it I ended up finding a down log that I could use as a bridge to get across.

another base attack.jpg

Down there was a sealed chamber. Before investigating it any further I got a notice from the base that a herd of creatures was wandering towards the base. So I ended up going back and started to prepare my defenses for yet another attack.

It seems all I have been doing these days is uncovering a couple of sections of fog on the map. Come close to getting some kind of answer that usually leads to far more questions. Then getting whisked away in having to defend the base instead of getting more answers.

a giant tree.jpg

It was also quite effective in distracting me. Since I was back up to the base. I decided I might as well go explore elsewhere. I then came across this massive creature I thought was a tree.

I’ve seen much smaller versions of them on the battlefield before. They are usually natural with the enemies attacking them. I’m rather glad this one remained neutral as well. Sometimes when I'm on the side of the map it is I'll go out of my way to pass by it like some of the other creatures I've bumped into that like to keep things friendly.

Many giant creatures roam the map. Anytime I get near one of them I get some kind of warning that I'm ill-equipped to deal with them. I can’t even engage with them if I tried. There seems to be some powerful thing acting beyond my reach to keep me away from said creatures.

gem frog.jpg

I ended up going around looting quite a few things I had left behind. Such as this gem and gold-crusted toad. My inventory has become full of all kinds of random items that I can just sit and test out giving them food, using certain materials, and so forth in trying to determine what is required to get some loot. In this case, I just dealt with this frog with my bare hands.

After quite a few more fights I decided to head home again. I was not making any real headway on what was going on. Once at the base, I was yet again confronted by things going on.

This time around some kind of parasite was infecting people on my base killing them. Like every time before some kind of solution ends up being discovered to resolve this issue. It always seems like there's a fifty-fifty chance of coming back to the base and either getting to rebuild my army and relax in peace or having some massive issue that needs my attention immediately.

The time after a starving creature ended up appearing in front of my base. I always wonder if I play the nice guy and what ends up happening. This creature ended up coming to my base a few other times as well. In the end, it ended up getting killed by some rather evil being on this planet. This is quite a shame. Not the kind of outcome I wanted as I was slowly building some kind of repour with the creature.

Final Thoughts

tech tree.jpg

After a while, I ended up unlocking some further units and upgrading their combat and survival abilities on the map. One of them called Gauss Fussion Guns had some decent ranged damage that I'd heavily stack in my party.

On top of that the Mech Crawlers which I try and keep two units of those on my team. I fully upgraded how many I could bring along in a single unit with me. It however started to become quite a challenge to replace them at the rate I was using and losing them on the battlefield.

This was also a part of the game where I felt I was just not discovering tech cores at a rate I was happy with. Sometimes I'd end up stacking up quite a lot of tech points. Only to spend them on things that have some benefit to me just not a lot. It seemed rather wasteful to not do so as I had no idea how much longer it would be until I could unlock further parts of the tech tree.

My mind would also start to wander a lot about the Perfect Life Form. There were supposed to be some kind of giant spiders above the planet keeping a watchful eye on me. It turns out one was a lot closer than I was expecting. Its goal was to keep me from escaping my reach into other parts of the planet.
