Things just did not want to go my way this time around. It ended up taking a lot longer than I would have liked to have gotten my alt to the altar of the gods. I’m at least glad in the end I did.
First, I thought I'd be cleaver which you already know is not going to go well for me. My faction has a Knarr that they never use. The issue is I can’t just use it. I tried repairing it to push it out away.
I was hoping if I could get the boat out far enough away, they would not see me attempting to steal it. I also thought I had the key to it which I could not use within sign of the town as they could see me stealing.
I also decided that I was going to take both my main and the alt on this trip. The last thing I needed was my alt getting killed halfway there. After failing to secure the boat I wanted to steal I decided to work on another part of the plan instead.
I ended up grinding some chain armor skills to get both my characters better armor for the most part than what they had. My alt was still rocking that dragon piece he had looted. All the other slots for chain armor were massive upgrades over what he had.
I then decided we were just going to take the small rowboat I had stolen and head out to where we needed to go. I took a look at the map and I thought I noticed a small gap in land. Where I could take the boat from the inner lake area I was in and make it to the ocean.
The issue with that plan is that just to test my theory I'd need to go in the opposite direction. I ended up starting at the orange X on the map. I then took the red line where I found out I could not cross on my boat.
The good news at least is my base which is the blue X is not that far from the ocean side. I would just have to craft my boat on the ocean to take my next trip.
I ended up building out a dock area where the purple X is. I picked that location since it had a large forest and I could spot if it was daytime that I had cut down a lot of trees in that area to know I was close to making it back home on my return trip.
Once I had a boat, I would then follow something similar to the yellow line I had drawn on the map to where the alert ended up being. At least that is my best guess of where I was. Since there are no icons on the map of your current location, I can’t be certain but based on the land masses and features I assume I was near there. With the gray X being a giant hill I had to climb at the end.
For all that to happen however I'd need to craft myself a boat. While I could have gone with something small and easy. Since I'd already be on the ocean side and not stuck in a group of lakes. I wanted to think about having a decent boat for the future as well. So, I made a Knarr of my own.
At least once the boat was built and I was heading in the correct direction. It was quite a fun adventure. I noticed a few islands I was half tempted to want to have a base on. If only I could have a decent mine on them as well, I'll start packing my stuff right now.
Along the way, I would sometimes get out of the boat and just explore around. It was a decent way to get some combat levels as well. I was also on the lookout for a better pelt.
After many hours of being seasick, we finally arrived at the alert. Sadly, this would not be the only trip required out here. First, my alt would need to become a follower of a religion. Then once he was high enough skilled in that he would have to come out again to become a priest.
At the very least I knew when my alt needed to come back out here. He could do it as a solo trip with my main staying at the base. That way at least something useful could be getting done while the alt was spending forever on a boat.
I ended up going down the Vynora religion route on the alt. This will allow him to cast at some point speed and skill-gain spells on tools. Along with some other helpful enchantments as well.
Becoming a follower of Vynora is sadly quite an early step. I then need to increase his religion and faith by praying at an altar. These things have a limited number of actions per day you can get skill gains. So, for well over a week which is so much shorter than it would have been on Wurm Online I was just logging in my alt to get his prayers in for the day.
Final Thoughts
At least the trip back to the alert when the time came was so worth it. I would however need to keep leveling up a lot more to be able to cast some of the more powerful enchantments I wanted to do. At least it would not take too much longer before I had a decent chance at Wind of Ages and Circle of Cunning having a high enough success rate, I was willing to risk using it on my main tools.
I am so glad to have this part of my plans over with. This also put out of my kind any attempt in wanting to make other priest alts at least for the time being. It was enough of a time-sink just getting this one up and running. I still had quite a long grind on him to get all my items enchanted with what I wanted.
