CONTROLLING THOUGHT: Who is the person that lies deep inside you?...Shed the mask and let the power of Christ that dwells inside you come out.
KEY VERSE:
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (Ephesians 3:19 KJV).
BIBLE TEXT:
Ephesians 3:16-21; Philippians 2:5,9-11 (KJV)
MAIN DISCOURSE:
There is this song by Billy Joel called "The Stranger" I always liked it. The wordings of the song discuss how everyone wears masks at sometimes, some for strangers, some for lovers, some for family, and some for ourselves. We wear such masks often that it is difficult to identify us, because we are always acting in a different way depending on the situation or the company we are with. It gives me reasons to reflect on my own life, how I act in different occasions: with family members, friends, at church, and when I am alone. Why do I act differently on the circumstance? Why can't I be myself all the time?
In these verses, we read that Jesus Christ lives in the righteous hearts. Through our faith in Christ, there is need to remove the masquerade and stop acting as someone else. Through our intimacy with Christ we can mature and be more confident, more knowledgeable, and more understand that we are full of the positive energy of God. We have the likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ, why should we cover what is deep inside us? Would God make us in His image and be ashamed of us?
The last verse reminds us that we are but humble servants to the Lord. No matter our height in Christ, no matter how successful we are, we are still lowly children of God. We have no reason to hide from others when we know that we are all lowly children before God. Who is the person that lies deep inside you? Share that personality with the outside world. Remove your mask and allow the power of Christ that dwells inside you gush out.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord God, the Almighty Father, i am a lowly servant, begging to do Your bidding. Any opportunity i have to be like You i relish. I thank You for all the gift and positive attributes that You have bestowed on me. This day, as always, i long to worship you, to take off the mask, and be more like Your son, Jesus Christ - Amen.
