Aquiles, un guerrero en vectores/Achilles, a warrior in vectors

Desde que tengo 10 años, me desligue de la pintura, pase mucho tiempo de mi vida estudiando artes plásticas y detestando pintar, así que me puse la tarea de reconciliarme con la misma; este cuadro es una de estas reconciliaciones. Mi hermano me pidió que le pintara un cuadro de Aquiles; le gustan mucho las estatuas del siglo XVI, sobre todo las que trataban de la mitología griega, así pues, busco una estatua de Aquiles con esas características de esas esculturas, músculos definidos, mirada profunda y poses dramática.

Since I was 10 years old, I got rid of painting, I spent a lot of time of my life studying plastic arts and I hated painting, so I set myself the task of reconciling myself with it; this painting is one of these reconciliations. My brother asked me to paint him a picture of Achilles; he really likes 16th century statues, especially those dealing with Greek mythology, so I am looking for a statue of Achilles with those characteristics of those sculptures, defined muscles, deep gaze and dramatic poses.

Puse manos a la obra, tome la imagen que el deseaba y fui dibujándola por vectores, aquí les dejo el boceto que hice para hacer el cuadro y también la imagen de referencia; como pueden apreciar intente hacerlo lo más parecido, ya que la meta era que quedara exactamente igual pero pintada en tonos azules y en vectores.

I got to work, I took the image that he wanted and I was drawing it by vectors, here I leave the sketch that I made to make the painting and also the reference image; As you can see, I tried to make it as close as possible, since the goal was to make it look exactly the same but painted in blue tones and in vectors.

Pintar vectores es muy sencillo si tienes una guía explicita donde te de una idea de donde va cada color, cada tono, la forma que se le dará. También tiene un grado de dificultad, ya que al menos, en mi caso, me gusta trabajar los vectores con colores ya predeterminados, no ir mezclando sobre la marcha; así que tome varios envases de pinturas ya usadas, les quite la conchitas que le quedaban de pintura seca, los lave y allí fui mezclando los colores, en uno use una cantidad absurda de blanco, en otro iba midiéndome más con la cantidad de blanco que le iba agregando. Llene un total de 5 envases con diferentes tonos de azul.

Painting vectors is very simple if you have an explicit guide that gives you an idea of where each color goes, each tone, the shape that will be given. It also has a degree of difficulty, since at least, in my case, I like to work the vectors with already predetermined colors, not mix them on the fly; so I took several containers of already used paints, I removed the shells that remained of dry paint, I washed them and there I was mixing the colors, in one I used an absurd amount of white, in another I was measuring myself more with the amount of white that I was adding, fill a total of 5 containers with different shades of blue.

Tiene un grado de dificultad pintar espacios tan finos y pequeños, es un excelente ejercicio de concentración y manejo de la mano.

Luego, de terminar de pintar todos los espacios que debía pintar, pase a pintar el fondo; el fondo sufrió muchos cambios.

It has a degree of difficulty painting such fine and small spaces, it is an excellent exercise in concentration and handling of the hand.

Then, after finishing painting all the spaces that I had to paint, I went on to paint the background; the background underwent many changes.

Termine el cuadro, con algunos arreglos, poniendo en algunas sitios vectores en rosa y un amarillo muy claro para hacer que sobresaliera la figura del fondo anaranjado. Mi meta de pintar y sentirme bien haciéndolo, si valió la pena, valió completamente la pena. Fue gratificante ver como mi hermano colgaba su cuadro de Aquiles y se le quedo mirando. Finish the painting, with some adjustments, putting vectors in pink and a very light yellow in some places to make the figure stand out from the orange background. My goal of painting and feeling good doing it, if it was worth it, was totally worth it. It was gratifying to see how my brother hung his Achilles painting and stared at it.
