[Writing Contest] How I came to Ecency/Hive (EN-ES)

Hello, dear hiver.

This post is my entry for the Writing Contest organised by @ecency-star. Here you have the link to the contest.

If you look at my profile you can see that my Ecency/Hive account was created in December 2021. At that time I was a member of a Telegram channel hosted by @efectivida. He commented there that his account was being set up and encouraged us to give it a try. You can imagine that it didn't take me long to follow his suggestion....

... I came, I saw and I left. That Ecency/Hive thing was a mess! I didn't understand anything. Accustomed as I was to using normal social networks, suddenly finding myself in the middle of this almost infinite universe of possibilities scared me. This coincided with my discovery of Substacks, the newsletter distribution platform. As it was easier to use, I opted to start writing there.

One of the people who subscribed to my newsletter was @lormez16. We were in contact because we both followed @efectivida's Telegram channel and I listened to her podcast Empty Your Tray. She encouraged me to return to Ecency/Hive, to take advantage of the work I was already doing anyway. So it was that in March-April 2022 I again considered staying active here.

This time, knowing in advance that I would not be able to cover everything from the beginning, I spent many hours reading tutorials, studying which publications have the best recognition, what are the good ways to proceed or how to cite sources correctly. Little by little and with the work of an ant, I have made the necessary mistakes to become a better creator and curator, I have thanked those who corrected me and I have approached with sincere interest the projects in which I have seen possibilities to contribute.

Yes, I know I have referred to Ecency/Hive throughout the post, when they are different things. However, for me there is no interaction within Hive that I don't do through Ecency. The only exception is my Actifit activity reports, because I haven't figured out if there is a way to do it through Ecency. I love everything about this front-end and especially the team of people behind it. I'm proud and honoured to be actively involved in helping to moderate on their Discord server. Especially to the person who has taught me the most since I landed and from whose example I never tire of learning: @melinda010100. (I love you, dear!)

Si miras en mi perfil puedes ver que mi cuenta de Ecency/Hive se creó en diciembre de 2021. Por aquel entonces yo era miembro de un canal de Telegram conducido por @efectivida. Él comentó por allí que se estaba creando su cuenta y nos animaba a probar. Puedes imaginar que no tardé en seguir su sugerencia…

… llegué, vi y me fui. ¡Eso de Ecency/Hive era un lío! No comprendía nada. Acostumbrada como estaba a utilizar las redes sociales normales, verme de repente en medio de este universo casi infinito de posibilidades me asustó. Eso coincidió con mi descubrimiento de Substacks, la plataforma para distribución de newsletters. Al ser más sencilla de manejar opté por empezar a escribir allí.

Una de las personas suscritas a mi newsletter era @lormez16. Teníamos contacto porque ambas seguíamos el canal de Telegram de @efectivida y yo a mi vez escuchaba su podcast Vacía tu bandeja. Ella me animó a regresar a Ecency/Hive, a aprovechar el trabajo que de todos modos ya estaba realizando. Así fue como en marzo-abril de 2022 consideré de nuevo mantenerme activa por aquí.

Esta vez, al saber de antemano que no podría abarcar todo desde el principio, pasé muchas horas leyendo tutoriales, estudiando las publicaciones que tienen mejor reconocimiento, cuáles son las buenas maneras de proceder o cómo citar las fuentes de forma correcta. Poco a poco y con trabajo de hormiguita, he ido cometiendo los errores necesarios para ser mejor creadora y curadora, he agradecido a quienes me corrigieron y me he acercado con interés sincero a los proyectos en los que he visto posibilidades de aportar.

Aprovecho esta publicación para dar las gracias a las comunidades que más me apoyaron, sobre todo al principio de mi regreso: (en orden alfabético)

Sí, ya sé que en toda la publicación me he referido a Ecency/Hive, cuando son cosas diferentes. Sin embargo, para mí no hay interacción dentro de Hive que no haga a través de Ecency. La única excepción son mis reportes de actividad de Actifit, porque no he averiguado si existe forma de hacerlo a través de Ecency. Todo lo que rodea a este front-end me encanta y en especial el equipo de personas que tiene detrás. Para mí es un orgullo y un honor colaborar de forma activa ayudando a moderar en su servidor de Discord. En especial, a la persona que más me ha enseñado desde que aterricé y de cuyo ejemplo no me canso de aprender: @melinda010100. (I love you, dear!)
