Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Akane is still one of my favorite summoners

in Splinterlands2 days ago

Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle with Akane as my summoner, against a Lux Vega. Despite all the new summoners with Eternal Tofu, Cryptic, Lorkus, and a few others, Akane is still a pretty good one and also fun. Making 2 of your monsters attack once before the first round begins, can cause a lot of damage on some teams. On the other hand, I don't like Lux Vega. It's a neutral summoner that can be used in every single game, except for Little League. Not even Taking Sides gets rid of it because it only applies to monsters. It helped with the loss of value of the rare Chaos Legion summoners and it gave every Splinter their own "Kelya". This is a game I have to win!

This game has the following rule sets: Maneuvers, Blood and Sunder, and What Doesn't Kill You. I started with Cursed Windeku, followed by Venator Kinjo. I placed Halfling Refugee next and Venka the Vile in the fourth position. For the last 2, I picked Naga Assassin and Vruz. The plan was to abuse Venka as much as possible. I have 3 speed control abilities and there's Vruz next to her for a possible Martyr buff. They opted for Pelacor Deceiver as their tank, with a weirdly placed Xenith Archer next. Uraeus and Weirding Warrior were next and the last 2 were Soul Strangler and Silent Sha-vi.

I gave Ambush to Cursed Windeku and Venka. Venka missed the Ambush attack and took Backfire damage. That put her with 11 attack and 9 speed. Windeku took out the Deceiver's armor, leaving it with 11 HP. Venka was the first one to attack in round 1 and dealt exactly 11 damage to the Deceiver, killing it and also taking out the Archer next. Uraeus died after attacking Windeku. In round 2, Venka took out 2 more guys, leaving only Silent Sha-vi alive on their team. Sha-vi killed my Windeku but there was nothing else it could do and my Naga Assassin finished it in round 3.

The game could have gone a lot worse for me. Being able to take out Deceiver in one Venka hit, not getting it Enraged, was great. If Venka hits the first attack, Deceiver would have the Enrage active and I might have missed several attacks. I still think I was a favorite, but the first Venka miss, followed by Windeku hitting the armor and Venka hitting the second attack, made sure the win wouldn't escape me.
